IRAN? TOP IRAQI POLICE GENERAL PROVIDED AL SADR's MAHDI ARMY WITH US WEAPONS AND INTELLIGENCE
WHILE THE US OBSESSED ABOUT IRAN A TOP IRAQI POLICE GENERAL PROVIDED AL SADR's MAHDI ARMY WITH US WEAPONS AND INTELLIGENCE
Submitted by davidswanson on Thu, 2008-04-03 04:35.

A top Iraqi police general agreed to provide Al-Sadr's Mahdi army with American weapons and ammunition and had the Iraqi police force kidnap U.S. informers according to a classified June 2006 US intelligence report released today by the transparency group Wikileaks.

The police commander in question, general Qais, commander of the Babil province had also "been collecting information on U.S. Army Officials that he meets with and providing dossiers to Mahdi militia." and even providing tip offs of coalition raids:

"Al-Sadr instructed Qais to inform him of any pending coalition operations and to accompany the Americans on the operation to ensure they did not hit certain targets..."

US intelligence appears to have blindly supported general Qais because he was opposed by groups considered to be controlled by Iranian intelligence. Qais "has caused the governor of the Babil
province Salim Salih Mahdi Al Muslimawi much distress as his organization is deeply penetrated by Iranian intelligence and SCIRI."

"COA Scimitar continues to be heavily influenced by Iranian entities, particularly SCIRI and BADR Corps. Iranian sympathizers and proponents from the SCIRI Governor Salim Salih Mahdi Al Muslimawi and many of his cabinet members continue to perpetuate sectarian policy and steer gubernatorial decisions. This pre sent political climate proves tenuous for neutral, non-sectarian leadership such as GEN Qais"

Boy, it's as plain as the nose on my face.

We really do have a lot of dumb-asses at the head of our military, including the bosses they work for.

3. I don't think he'll bring it up unless asked about it
then he'll claim there's an on going investigation and can't answer.

But hopefully Congress will hold his feet to the fire.

situation. There was a hearing today concerning how to 'end' this occupation. There were no other options that I heard, but I did tune in late. How to end it and not to continue it; I thought that was a breakthrough.

6. Urgent to push this story FRONT & CENTER
It doesn't matter what the bozos in charge do. Iran (who isn't the devil the media portrays) will be involved anyway. Both Maliki & Sadr met in Iran to broker the renewal of the cease-fire that ended the most recent fighting in Basra.

Al Sadr is more of a nationalist than Maliki is, and more popular with the Iraqi people to boot. And there isn't an Arab in Iraq who really wants the Persians to run their Country.

IT'S TIME TO LEAVE

8. Same as VietNam
where the VC and NVA had agents everywhere.

When dealing with an insurgency, you can't trust anyone local.
