Oops, al-Qaeda #2 says: it would be "in the interest" of Al-Qaeda to see Iran fight the US

Al Qaeda #2: We'll Attack Iran

Zawahiri Recently, Senator John McCain has repeatedly indicated that Iran and al-Qaeda are in cahoots. The terror group's number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, would beg to differ. In a long-promised online Q&A session, Zawahiri says it would be "in the interest" of Al-Qaeda to see Iran "sap" by a fight with the United States. Moreover, he seems to promise that the extremist collective will "battle" whoever wins that U.S.-Iran struggle.

The dispute between America and Iran is a real dispute based on the struggle over areas of influence, and the possibility of America striking Iran is a real possibility. As for what might happen in the region, I can only say that major changes will occur in the region, and the situation will be in the interest of the Mujahideen if the war saps both of them. If, however, one of them emerges victorious, its influence will intensify and fierce battles will begin between it and the Mujahideen, except that the Jihadi awakening currently under way and the degeneration state of affairs of the invaders in Afghanistan and Iraq will make it impossible for Iran or America to become the sole decision-maker in the region. 1. Just more of bush's legacy
I guess we'll have an Iran wing of his lie-brary. No leadership skills, no management skills, being trick-fucked and played like a fiddle by Al-Quaeda's NUMBER TWO. Thanks people with conservative values; you're doing a heckuva job.

2. These guys really are idiots, aren't they?
Al Qaeda only had the successes they have had because not enough people took them seriously. Now they're being taken much too seriously.

Ooo, yeah, we're all so afraid of Al Qaeda. If they could ever manage to shake loose of Pakistan, what a threat they'd be. :eyes:

America, Iraq, and Iran at peace is the worst nightmare of these yahoos. They'd assume all the relevance of David Koresh, which is exactly what they deserve.

4. The funny thing is, #2 is really #1 as I see it.
Zawahiri lets bin Laden run around and act the prophet while he calls the shots.

9. Wonder if Bush and Cheney will follow through and fulfill this al-Qaeda desire like they did before?
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 01:18 PM by sinkingfeeling
bin Laden wanted 1)American (infidels) off of Saudi soil and Bush removed the troops; 2) he wanted an end to the 'secular' government in Iraq and Bush invaded; and 3) he wanted to show all Muslims that the West intended to take over the Middle East and kill them and Bush is doing his best.
