i need an update today: is keith olbermann a hero or repub slimebag today? |
|
is KO the edward murrowesque patriot today or is he the mysoginistic, corporate puppet?
personally, KO has been the best news guy on TV and i haven't changed my feelings one bit. i do find it alarming that so many on DU that used to praise him have attacked him so viciously because he seems to favor obama over hillary.
personally, i have no favorite in the obama/hillary contest so KO can't hurt my feelings. but even if i did favor hillary, i can't imagine turning on KO because he had a different opinion.
so what's the DU consensus today on KO?

2. it depends on the time |
|
It's an even hour now (2 pm) so he's a hero. At 3 (and odd-numbered hour) he'll be slime. Oh wait. This is a month with 30 days. Damn, that changes EVERYTHING.
Seriously, I agree with you. I like KO a lot.

3. don't know about the rest of DU-- but he is still one of the best. |
|
don't think much of times when he has buchanan or some other reichwingnut pundit on, but I can always flip the channel.
just his "bushed" segment, and the "worst persons" segment, are reason enough to watch. yes, some days I don't agree with him, but I never expect to.

5. Some people break down KO to only one issue, because they are intellectually lazy |
|
IMHO.
I can disagree with him at times as we all can. But when you become a 1 issue person you have lost all perspective and caring about the bigger picture.
Just my 2 cents.

13. My problem is that he talks about his 1 issue during every segment |
|
Every guest he has on goes into a different diss of Hillary.

6. He's one of the few real journalists we have left. |
|
Most of the rest are handsomely paid corporate shills masquerading as real truth telling investigative reporters prattling their incessant nonsense and irrelevant triviality.

8. Remember, he started blasting Clinton when she played the fear card. |
|
That's a big thing for Keith.
I don't think it's necessarily that he's "for" Obama--he's demonstrated a huge respect for and liking of the Clintons in the past. But he's against the use of the fear card, and as for a lot of other things--well, the facts rather speak for themselves, between things going so badly for Clinton and the underhandedness of the Pennrove tactics.

11. It depends on whether you ask a critical thinker or not |
|
A critical thinker will be OK with disagreeing with someone on certain particulars without making a sweeping rejection of that person.
In other words, a critically thinking hillary clinton supporter who feels KO coverage favors Obama can say, "I don't agree with / like KOs coverage of the campaign and feel it is unfairly biases against Clinton / in favor of Obama, but KO is certainly an important counter-balancing liberal voice in the mainstream media and I'm thankful for that.
A hysterical blind ideologue will make bombastic hyperbolic statements about how KO has suddenly become a fraud, crank, quack, scumbag, traitor, etc.
As an aspiring critical thinker myself, I can use the example of Laura Flanders. Flanders said she was a Clinton supporter and spend a lot of time on Air giving very positive attention to Clinton. And while I disagree with her on some of those points, she remains a great liberal voice that we're lucky to have.

15. It looks like an audition for Obama's Press Sec ty |
|
the first 15 minutes anyway. I still like some of his show, and wish he hadn't taken sides. Although I still watch , there is resistance to him now, but there is still nothing better on at that time slot. The bloom is off the rose however, I no longer recommend him

18. He's the best we have, but his bias is showing. I'm not a fan of wither of our candidates, |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 02:04 PM by blondeatlast
but I think he is extraordinarily hard on one of them (NOT the one my primary vote went to, either--just sayin')--way beyond journalistic objectivity. Would that he would apply that extreme to Bush III...
But, I'm still a fan--even when I'm tempted to kick in the screen and telling him to tone it down.
Journalism sucks today, ya know?
