It's more than time we sever big oil's ties with the government.
They are the ONLY industry that is raking in money hand over fist right now, despite the rest of the economy going in the toilet. Their quarterly profits exceed that of the GDP of most foreign countries. On top of their insane profits, they also are the ONLY industry that is getting subsidies (read: free money) from the government. They also get HUUUUUUUUUUGE tax incentives from the government. Stop this madness now!

 :grr: :nuke:

2. $40 bil last quarter. Half of which went to buying back its own stock
it boosted the value of their own shareholders.

So much for the talking point of using their profit to retrofit their existing technologies.

5. The greed of the oil man knows no boundaries.
Every time I see that BP commercial where they talk about how they're doing a lot to help the environment, it makes all my hairs stand up on end. :argh:

7. It's the Chevron commercial that kills me
The one that says something like "Who would have thought, an energy company as part of the solution"

Give me an effing break.

4. Nationalize the energy industry - including Big Oil. No more profits period.
Energy should be treated as a public resource, for our benefit - not the fatcat Big Oil execs, who hand themselves enormous bonus checks while energy costs continue to rise.

6. It's not just big oil.
All the other energy subsidiaries are swimming in profits. There's a special place in hell reserved for Ken Lay and his Enron cronies.
