Chinese soldiers caught with monk outfits.
http://buddhism.kalachakranet.org/chinese-orchestrating-riots-tibet.htm

London, March 20 - Britain's GCHQ, the government communications agency that electronically monitors half the world from space, has confirmed the claim by the Dalai Lama that agents of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the PLA, posing as monks, triggered the riots that have left hundreds of Tibetans dead or injured.

3. Same old shit
To tell the truth, I would have been surprised if the thugs in the Chinese government hadn't tried to pull off something like this.

4. China just looks more and more awesome here.
Throwing shit at the Dalai Lama that could never stick, then this. To the poster who asked if they were being coached by Cheney, I would say notice that this is SUB Cheney, or any false flag operations we can imagine are happening Iraq. Why? Because Muslims do actually FIGHT, unlike buddhists. This is just fucking idiotic.

5. Scuse me? China benefits from rioting Tibetan monks - how?
Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 03:23 AM by Hannah Bell
Seems like "not at all" for $64,000 is the correct answer, alex.

I think it's more likely the people in costume were british. since they are so miraculously johnny-on-the-spot with the incriminating evidence.

yeah, we found these - uh - chinese soldiers. Wearing monk suits, that's the ticket!

6. By giving them an excuse to crack down on the monks
This is a common ploy, used by governments worldwide.

Why, right here in the United States there are numerous well documented incidences of police and other governmental employees joining in protests and demonstrations for the purpose of inciting violence, thereby lending an excuse to disperse the crowd and make widespread arrests. Surely you are aware of this?

7. Not necessarily...
While they may have been agents provocateurs, that is not established by the facts given. Equally likely is that the Chinese govt had PLA soldiers spying on monks, and that the costumes were merely a disguise to blend in. It's plausible. We just don't know enough.

We do know that the Dalai Lama has connections to Western Intelligence services, and that the West gains from causing violent outbreaks in Tibet, because it serves to destabilize China and allows the sanctimonious West to criticize China over its human rights deficiencies. That's the hand that China's being dealt. Snuffing out any violent flare-ups is thus decidedly in China's interests from a PR standpoint. Instigating violence though? I somehow doubt it.

17. China does not need provacateurs to crack down
on Bhudda Schools.
Just ask anyone who is a part of the Falun Gong movement.China has imprisoned, tortured and murdered far more members of Falun Gong then they have in Tibet.
The last thing China wants is millions of enlightened citizens.

8. Certainly. Let me ask you now. What is the main difference
between the Chinese government & the american, or european governments, that would make the Chinese less in need of "an excuse" to crack down, should they desire to do so?

They had no qualms in "cracking down" on peaceful protestors in Tianemen (sp) Square, did they? On global TV, for all the world to see?

Has something changed, so that now they have to instigate fake riots so they can crack down, to forestall possible future riots that "might" occur during the olympics? which will be held in china, not tibet?

It's ridiculous.

10. The same way western governments benefit from riots in protests against globalization
They can call vilify anyone who opposes them as savages and terrorits whose only purpose is to destroy property.
They create an excuse to arrest anyone viewed as "dangerous" and scare people from supporting them.
It's all about psychology of the masses. If you beat the crap of a few the others will be afraid.
If they allow the protest to go peacefully, then people will be able to discuss and organize themselves in a real militia.
Big brother cannot allow that. Can It?

18. Why now? they say, "The olympics," but the olympics are in
china, the monks in tibet. China not being a dmocracy that needs to go through the elections cycle, they may "crack down" whenever they like without elaborate manufactured provocations.

The main thing that prevents the chinese from cracking down too hard on tibet is the long-standing support of the west for tibet, in the convoluted games of international power politics.

That's what stays their hand, not the opinions of their own people. & a tibetan riot doesn't give them a pass from the west for a crackdown, not in this internationally tense climate. Rather the opposite. a crackdown can be used, BY the west, to sanction china or change trade terms.

Rioting monks were the last thing they wanted right now.

11. Interesting that the British found that as they had soldiers wearing Arab garb in Iraq.
In this article, they call them "undercover"

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2005/sep/20/iraq.military

snip

The soldiers, who were said to have been wearing Arab headdress, were accused of firing at Iraqi police when stopped at a road block.
