John Boehner: Republicans will gain House seats this year.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) predicted Thursday that Republicans will pick up seats in the 2008 election despite a slew of GOP retirements and the Democrats’ significant fundraising advantage.

“We don’t need as much money as have,” he said. “We need enough to tell our story.”

He added, “I think we are going to gain seats this year. Period.”

...At the end of February, the NRCC had $5.1 million cash on hand while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) had $38 million.

More than 8 out of 10 Americans think the country is off-course - and the country has been led there by the GOP. Not exactly the scenario where "just getting our story out" is going to suddenly change the voters' attitudes and lead to a big GOP win in Congress.

But I, for one, would be happy to see more voters get a clearer picture of "the story" of the GOP over the past 8 + years. Though I don't think that the result would exactly be what Boehner is predicting.

I'd love to go up to the few Repugnicans I encounter and tell them this "fact"...there's no need for them to vote, stay home, the Boner has put the fix in. Hopefully there will be some who are stupid enough to believe that and stay home.
