Firm gets $27M Army contract
Chad Selweski - April 5, 2008 - http://www.macombdaily.com/stories/040508/loc_local02.shtml

A Chesterfield Township firm has landed a $27 million contract to manufacture military-style ambulances for the U.S. Army that will be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Officials at Burtek Inc. say the new contract puts them on a path toward rapid growth over the next three years. The contract calls for the delivery of 920 battlefield-ready ambulances this year, with the prospect for a second- and third-year contract extension, pending approval from Congress and the Pentagon.

..... If the two contract extensions are secured, the deal would be worth up to $94 million. .......

5. Gearing up for combat, that's for sure. Iran, I doubt. That's distraction from failure!
Not to mention, the ass-whipping that Iran could put on the Green Zone, air carriers sunk, bring Russia into the war, and who know what other possible unintended consequences, like no oil for the world.

4. That's probably their charge to modify an existing new truck into an ambulance.
I checked your math. You're correct.

6. It's the charge to make the ambulance body
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/news/2008/03/dod-contracts_3738.htm

They're delivering these bodies to the HMMWV manufacturer for installation onto the new chassis. It's still a very good price.
