Should torture be allowed? |
|
Are there any circumstances when torture is justified?
Does the United States, any country or nation, or the police need to torture?
What happens when one group tortures another?
See Taxi to the Darkside and then decide for yourself.

8. Bullshit? what's bullshit? |
|
Can you explain this comment. The movie is an excellent history of torture during the Iraq and it contains interviews of participants that you won't see elsewhere. I am not sure why you would call it Bullshit unless:
1. You don't care to see what you already know
2. You think the movie is lying and supports terrorism.
It is certainly not 2, the movie actually tells us that to be a moral country, we need to end torture.
Can you explain?

24. I am sorry you feel insulted--why take it personally? |
|
It is a great movie. I guess since you know everything, there is no need for you to see the movie because you are such an expert.
Sorry I doubted that there were some geniuses out there that couldn't learn a thing from a movie that does a great job documenting the terror prisons.

for a civil society. Remember the Constitution. Vietnam showed it to be ineffective and even dangerous since it can be used as a fear tactic more than finding out the truth.

20. The worst torture we do gets no air time |
|
They lock them in darkened sound proof cells with no indications of the passage of time. Even the meals are given at random intervals to avoid any kind of routine. then after several weeks of this they are yanked out into a cell with bright flashing lights and loud heavy metal music and doused with cold water. They are so shocked that they will then spill their guts. If no information is obtained they repeat until the prisoner has reverted to a helpless child like state.
To me this is a torture that makes waterboarding seem like child's play.
The answer is NO. We have been torturing people since the beginning of time it is time for it to stop. If they will do it to a suspected terrorist they will do it to any of us, given the proper rationalization.

Extreme rendition = legalized sadism.
It serves no function either. Most would admit to anything just to make it stop.

A barbarian, medieval practice that should not be returned to.
It was dropped in Western Civilization, because it was ineffective. It brings out only what the torturer wants to hear. In modern times, it is not only ineffective, but dangerous, providing mostly false leads.
The mind of another human cannot be penetrated. There is no way to force a confession. If one is so certain one is right, then one doesn't need the confession, and must have other evidence.
