Cokie Roberts is the dumbest pundit I have ever seen
and that is saying a lot. She pulls virtually everything she says out of her ass, which, ironically, is where her head resides most of the time. At least when a guy like Sean Hannity lies and puts forth bullshit, he does it because he has an agenda. He doesn't try to hide that he's a shill. Cokie pretends she's a legit journalist and will make something up like it's a fact.

For example, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, was talking about Iraq and how the responsible thing is to withdraw. And Cokie started saying the American people want to win etc. Then Katrina said that yes, they want to win, but militarily alone there is nothing to win, and that we need to withdraw responsibly and in the long-term that would be better for Iraq and the Middle East etc. Then Cokie said that it would be tough to convince the electorate that we needed to withdraw.

Uh, I hate to tell Cokie this, but most Americans, including over two-thirds of the electorate want to withdraw from Iraq. That's what Dick Cheney said "So?" to a few weeks ago. But then Katrina pointed this out to her and George Stephanopoulos interrupted her and moved on.

But that's the thing. Cokie acts like she's some sort of expert, but she doesn't even know something as simple as that. Americans overwhelmingly want to get out of Iraq. Where the hell has she been? She just made it up in her mind that whatever she thinks is true, I guess.

1. Cokie just wants us to feel sorry for her
Because her dad dissapeared 30 years ago. She is the worst pundit for the exact reasons you said.

10. yeah and it's not that I care if I don't agree with somebody
Hell, I don't agree with lots of Dems on certain issues. But when somebody is absolutely wrong about something, that is a problem. I can't stand ignorance and/or lies.

4. Cookie Roberts has a Georgetown Cocktail Party mentality about the world
I would doubt it if she has ever been outside of the DC Beltway in 20 years.

7. She sounds like she hasn't
I always like how people who live in that small little world forever purport to know the pulse of the American people. It's like they just think they know everything about what people want, even though they know nothing about what most people around the country are like whatsoever. It's the biggest ego bullshit I have ever seen. Most of these people think they are just so serious and important too. They're like children.

13. Most TV pundits should not be callled pundits.
Or TV pundits should provide the definition of pundit that they are using.

According to free dictionary...

1. A source of opinion; a critic: a political pundit.
2. A learned person.

The disclaimer that the network news shows should use should be something like...

There are two definitions for a pundit. 1) A source of opinion; a critic: a political pundit.
2) A learned person.

For the purpose of our production we can only use the first.

 :bounce:

And that's not sexist. George Stephanapolopogus (or whatever that idiot's neme is) is just as bad, and just as whorelike.

Who the hell would pay that much to listen to her? It's likely you'd come out dumber for just hearing her give a speech or lecture.

20. Katrina is something like a magnitude of ten times smarter than Cokie Roberts
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 11:18 AM by Steve_DeShazer
I agree with the posters here who say she (Cokie) never strays outside the DC cocktail party circuit.

To say that the electorate doesn't want withdrawal from Iraq is absurd.

It seems everyone outside DC knows this...these Sunday shows are nothing if not one big circle jerk of Washington insiders who dispense their perceived knowledge while being sponsored by defense, business, petroleum and big agriculture corporations.

One look at those ads tells you everything you need to know.

What a joke.

22. I couldn't stand how sanctimonious she was
over Bill Clinton and Monica. She immediately called him done for and claimed that the American people wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior in the White House.
