and this is by no means a commercial, but a post about the National Civil Rights Museum reminded me.

If you're going through SW Missouri on your vacation this summer, you might want to stop at the George Washington Carver Museum in Diamond, MO. It's small, but it is nice and, I thought, captured the spirit of George Washington Carver very well. There are lots of educational, interesting, and interactive hands on exhibits for the kids and you to participate in. I had trouble getting my granddaughter away from the newspaper and radio exhibits. There's also a walking trail. Like I said, really nice. Link below if you're interested.

1. The Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site is also worth a visit ...
... the next time you are in Tuskegee, Alabama. We went 12-15 yrs ago and would gladly visit again to learn more about Carver and Booker T. Washington.

What they've got online looks really interesting too. They had an interactive sort of game about the uses of sweet potatoes and peanuts that was "grandma, can we play that game again?"

3. As I recall, our intended 30 minute visit lasted a couple of hours.
