"And I can't find my way home..."
In the words of a popular group from the '60's, that is the way I feel when I sign on to DU lately. Everybody and everything seems to be confused and scattered. I wonder, where is the truth? Why is it so difficult to focus on any one subject for more than a few minutes? Why do we attack each other so angrily?

Everything and every issue seems to be of equal weight and importance. We no longer seem able to prioritize by putting critical and important issues above the trivial. When they pry my cold dead fingers off my gun... Why?

Is it because we have seen so much obfuscation and outright lies over the last 7 1/2 years that we are no longer capable of making a distinction? Like the ball in a pinball machine, we bounce from one blinking light to another as the gongs and whistles let us know that we must have said something that someone agrees with?

Why cannot we simply take a deep breath and say, here is what is important? I refuse to be used and manipulated in such a manner. I want truth and enlightenment. I want to get rid of these criminals that have been in power for almost 8 years. I want justice. Is that too much to ask? Perhaps it is just me?

1. I think it's just that there's so much to do.
And there are so few of us doing it. The war(s) and the dissolution of our Justice system, the degradation of the environment and the destruction of the middle class, the shredding of the Constitution and the tanking of the economy. . . AND we are in the middle of an very important election cycle...

There are a lot of really really big fires and it's hard to prioritize.. so

It's a long way home. It's a long way home..

2. It's not just you
I find myself having to take long breaks from DU these days and avoid GD:P altogether.

It's a lot different than it was in 2001, but I have hope that it will all be over soon and everyone will come out unscathed. Until then, I read the groups a lot and spend time doing other things when necessary.

Good to see you again!!

3. Most of the people who are getting really nasty haven't been here long, or they've been dormant
since the last election.

It's good that the weather is improving...there's yard work that needs doing.

4. Kentuck it's not just you...
I was listening to Amy Goodman interviewing many of the men that were with King...and something caught my attention.

The FBI actively placed people in MLK marches to start violence and mayhem.

I would say that we are experiencing the same thing here - mayhem and strife. (Not the FBI ) but Neocons who are seeing their dream of a religeous, bigoted Nazi like state slip through their fingers. They have infiltrated and poisened DU just as they have poisened their own pigsty.

And this too shall pass.

I believe the moderators have been really good at getting rid of some of the trash but some slip through.

The true DU folks must raise the flag when we see this activity and shut them down. They are all given an opportunity to communicate their thoughts but their thoughts never stray far away from racism, anti - woman rhetoric or homophobia.

Thing is, some of them are dumber than a box of hair. One person, last night, started going off with chapter and verse about The Waco Standoff that was straight out of Linda Thompson and the Bruders Schweigen.

Of course, he received a pizza delivery for his labors.

Some of them really think they are being clever. Lawdy, it is a personal trial not to call them out, but I do not want a pizza to call my very own. ;-)
