"MANdated" ultrasound

http://www.miamiherald.com/top_stories/story/481033.html

Florida abortions may require ultrasound
The House passed a bill to mandate ultrasounds for all abortions while critics called it a barrier to abortion access.

A woman seeking an abortion in Florida would first have to get an ultrasound and review or turn down seeing the picture of the fetus, under a bill that passed the state House Wednesday, largely along party lines.

After nearly two hours of debate and questions, the House voted 70-45 to require doctors to perform an ultrasound any time a woman seeks an abortion and make the results available for review unless the woman signs a paper refusing to see it. A similar measure is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate next week.

Opponents of the measure said the procedure could cost a woman as much as $700, while supporters said the cost would likely be less than $100.

''Let's be realistic about this,'' she said. ``What we're doing is eroding a woman's right to choose.''

3. I think florida lawmakers should be required to get an MRI before passing every law.
Might prevent them from passing tons of silly and/or bad laws.

5. Politicians are practicing medicine without a license.
Maybe they need brain scans and barium enemas before writing medical laws for other people. I think I've recommended two separate procedures, but with these asshats it's hard to tell; it might be a two-fer.

4. Who pays for these expensive ultrasounds???
We're willing to require expensive medical procedures, in hopes that one of these women changes
their mind?

Who's going to pay for that?

Also, if the woman does change her mind--and she's a young, poor mother--who are the first people to
kick this woman to the curb when she applies for food stamps or other public assistance? These "pro life"
people are moral ingrates. They care so much during the pregnancy, but they belong to an elitist party
that turns their back on single mothers, the poor and people who really need help.

Their thinking is pathological and it's destructive to society.

6. Exactly. Notice how the woman can decline to see the ultrasound,
but only after she's already paid for it? The only purpose here is to institute another financial road to limit abortion rights...

Let them put their money where their mouths are.
