And he should give the website for it so that it can be emailed across America.
It is one of the most profound discussions I have heard on the issue.

Where is this guy's church? Anyone know? Sounds like it'd be worth a trip from anywhere to hear him on a Sunday morning.

11. WOW
wonderful, wonderful, wonderful and empowering

So very relevant!

This is what I believe the majority of citizens feel if they only allowed themselves to calm down. To stop being angry and greedy and feeling victimized because of the total crap fed to them daily by the media.

Did Fox really show that?

15. Very good
That is one Fox reporter that got put into his place.
The reporter just kept spouting the same verbiage coming from Fox and hate radio. The Priest just threw it back in his face and didn't back down one bit. I need to watch that again and see how he handled the reporter....it is so refreshing to see such a mature rebuttal.

BTW....I'm afraid if that reporter came after me...I'd have to knock him in the head. I was so impressed how the Priest kept his cool.

Thanks for posting!!

16. Excellent column on Obama/Wright
From an article about the Rev. Wright dust-up, by an assistant prof at Xavier, a Jesuit institution here in Cincinnati. Published in today's (4/8/08) Cincinnati Enquirer. Thoughtful and spot on, IMHO.
Excerpts below, worth reading the entire article here:

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080408/EDIT02/804080316

Wright's teachings are part of African-American opposition to empire
BY ADAM CLARK
Does the fiery rhetoric of Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, undermine Obama's well-crafted narrative of national reconciliation? Is it poor judgment on Obama's part to be a 20-year member of a church that preaches such a controversial, inflammatory message?

Obama's recent speech on race and politics was an attempt to quell the moral panic introduced to his presidential campaign through the latest Willie Horton stunt - the endless repetition of sound bites and video clips that caricature the ministry of a prominent African-American minister.

-snip-

Wright, however, is a preacher; his oath is not to the Constitution but to the Gospel. The statements of Wright may be out of step with the presidential politics of the Obama campaign, but they are not out of step with biblical faith. The forceful denunciations of America's invasion of Iraq, her support for the unjust practices of foreign governments as well as the invocation of God's wrath for the inhumane treatment of blacks and people of color are not the crazed anti-American ranting of an old uncle, but statements about the meaning of faith in a God who upsets the powers through identifying with the poor and marginalized.

-snip-

Anxiety and uneasiness about the speech acts of black preachers such as Wright should be replaced by anger at the events and conditions that give rise to their fire. Instead of repeating patterns that stigmatize and disqualify these voices from a dialogue on reconciliation and democracy, such voices should be partners in finding more authentic grounds for conversation.

Adam Clark is an assistant professor in the Department of Theology at Xavier University.

I am sure he also would NOT be happy with of some of the things that the US has been doing lately to others around the world.

19. I Agree....
he'd be angry and criticizing this government and it's citizens for not doing enough. I'm sure the right wing would have labeled anti-American for pointing out the negative.

21. Wow! Simply wow!
Wow! Simply wow!

A jaw-dropping, mind-numbing "Wow"!

He concisely and effectively summed up every point of order I've had about the Wright controversy. I'd like to have seen the reporter's expressions after a few of the Most Rev. Father's rejoinders...

Yes, yes... I'm a Clinton supporter, but to me, the entire Wright thing was just a manufactured sound bite advertised by some loose cannons who happen to support the same candidate I do.

26. Agree...
This should be a "must see" for all Americans. It would be great if this were a political advertisement on PA TV prior to the primary there. It just might affect the Catholics there and sway the vote in Obama's favor. Would there be TV stations in PA cities willing to air this message? Not as a paid advertisement, just as a justifiable public announcement.

Reverend Wright is not a politician running for an office. If only voters were smart enough to realize this. Oh well, one of these days.

Many Faux (Fox) reporters, like some politicians et al., ooze from the slime of the gutters.

28. As a non-religious person, this man speaks for me
I am not a religious person at all, but this priest speaks for the common good of society. I can respect religious people like this, people who seek out the truth and follow their convictions without circling their wagons and turn their religion against society to promote a backwards view to be forced on the populace.
