Republican's "War on Poverty" in Iraq. |
|
The Republican Party has always railed against social programs in this nation but that is exactly their strategy in Iraq. They truly believe that by giving jobs and money to the poor Iraqis, then they will stop killing Americans and fighting amongst themselves. This is the cornerstone of the "surge" strategy. Pour money into the poor neighborhoods of Iraq.
And it has worked fairly well in the Sunni areas of Anbar. Unfortunately, we cannot afford these social programs forever. Sooner or later, the Iraqis will have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. The Republicans are creating dependent Iraqis with American welfare dollars. This is basically closer to the truth than any of the military tales coming from this Administration.
