Hey Cokie...(and all you other talking heads who don't know what you're talking about)
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 12:23 PM by whereismyparty
On "This Week" this last weekend, Cokie Roberts had this this exchange with Katarina Vanden Heufel from The Nation:

VANDEN HEUVEL: ...the responsible thing to do is withdraw.

(you hear Cokie odiously chuckling at this point)

VANDEN HEUVEL: If we withdraw responsibly, the region would be more stable in the long term, America will be restored as a responsible global leader, and there are 42 challengers, you are absolutely right Cokie, who have a responsible plan to withdraw.

ROBERTS: Convincing the electorate of that I think would be very difficult, and I also agree that the notion that Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham you heard this morning putting forward, that Americans would prefer to win, is--

VANDEN HEUVEL: But what is winning? This war is unwinnable, there are no military solutions.

So, Cokie, please allow me to present the latest Gallup poll on the subject.

MOST AMERICANS ARE ALREADY CONVINCED WE SHOULD WITHDRAW!!!

1. Cokie seems really pro-war
She's been that way since 9/11. I don't understand it.

9. She's an ignorant ivory tower type
who spends most of her days waiting for press releases and wire stories to drop into her lap.

30 years ago, she did some decent work. She's gotten rich, soft and lazy.

She has no clue what the polls are saying because nobody's rubbed her nose in them, and that's what it takes for "journalists" like her to notice them.

2. Cokie is another dumb hack who got her start from her Daddy
If her father was not a pol no one would ever have heard of her. Glenn Beck in drag.

6. Changed it and thanks. You're so right.
I don't usually watch much of the MSM anymore because of exactly this kind of crap.

10. Vanden Heuval
is one of the finest and well informed voices we have.

I always look for her.

Cokie has really digressed over the last decade or so.

5. Cokie = more Aristocracy - and - a BORING one at that.
I'm old. I have been listening and watching for a long time. Cokie has never said anything I had not already heard numerous times for months. She also says things such as "Americans _________" and "People feel ___________, think ___________, want __________." She doesn't have the vaguest idea who we are. She is another Media creation, very non-productive.

:puke:

11. I've been
surprised by all the ani-Cokie talk on here lately. Granted, I haven't seen her for a while. But she used to be reliably liberal, always taking on George Will, and providing a nice link to the aristocratic liberals of the eastern establishment. If she's become what you are all saying, that saddens me.

14. She's always been very pro-Republican.
It always irritated me that ABC presented her as the opposite of George Will. She may be more moderate tha Will, but then, who isn't?

Cokie is paid very well to catapult exactly this propaganda.
