5. Let's not bring the candidates into this. Neither have spoken forcefully enough against free trade.
Both are somewhat critical. Neither are nearly critical enough.

2. Because "free trade" is a euphemism
For "I',m Free to do whatever I want to you because I'm bigger"

People are weird. For some reason they resent bullying and being taken advantage of.

6. Let's not forget these images either.

Or the hundreds of indigenous Mexicans who died fighting so that they wouldn't be annihilated as their government sold their subsistence farms to the interests of US/Global agribusiness.

9. Free trade is the best hope for economic growth, and for peace.
We should expand them throughout the Western Hemisphere and beyond.

11. Bullshit!
NAFTA, GATT, WTO, CAFTA, GATS, and all these other deals are NOT free trade. It's not free trade when you ship jobs out of the US just to take advantage of slave wages along with avoidance of all environmental, labor, and consumer laws. That's just creating more poverty and more environmental damage to enrich the CEOs and a few wealthy investors. It's not free trade when we drop tariffs almost immediately, while most of our trading partners have 15-20 years to drop their tariffs. It's not free trade when most of our trading partners charge a 10-30 percent VAT on American goods while we have zero VAT on their goods. It's not free trade when it causes one country (the USA) to run up trillions of dollars in current account deficits over the past few years.

Free trade, as it is now being applied, is a disaster. Anyone with half a brain that continues to endorse it should have their head examined. If you want to get out of a hole, the first thing you must do is stop the fucking digging! You want to keep digging until we're fucking buried in that hole!

10. Something like Free Trade works in europe but the playing field is more nearly equal there because..
most of the countries have HEALTH CARE programs. The U.S. can't compete fairly with Canada because our companies have to provide health care. Funny how things keep comin' around to that darn health care.
