My local TV station, WGAL, has a program on the PA primaries called,
"In search of the truth". Tonight, they took three points from a Hillary campaign speech and called each inaccurate. Since WGAL gets to pick the points it examines, it seems subjective, highly partisan and bordering on free air time for the candidate of their choice. Is it legal for the station to air this program w/o calling it an editorial and allowing rebuttal? Does the FCC have regulations regarding this type of political programming? Anyone ...

1. there used to be an "equal time" provision in the law --
it was gutted during a Republican administration (maybe Poppa Bush?)

They are very biased, and I have seen Dick Hoxworth on the noon news be outright rude to the Democratic candidates he has interviewed. It is nothing new for that station. They have been doing this ever since 1980 when I moved here. Do you remember Keith Martin, the nightly news anchor in the 80's until he was involved with James Guerin and the ISC? Keith is now head of PA Homeland Security! :puke:

edited for spelling;adding info

3. Guerin was framed. ISC was run by the CIA.
Guerin had very little to do with operations.

6. My knowledge is first hand. I worked at ISC for several years.

I worked for someone who was involved with the weapons sales and traveled to SA. I think Guerin was a patsy and a patriot who did as he was told.

7. Thank you for this....
I am off to read. We had a friend who worked there in the 80's, but we moved out of state and lost contact. I appreciate your link. :-)

5. I live in Central Pa. too
We live in a very red area and I'd bet 80% of the people over 50 are republican. I live in Juniata county and I think the only Democrats here are myself and 3 or 4 others. It gets discouraging.

There's also a very large Amish population here and they vote straight Republican 100% of the time. I think that fact brings up a very interesting point. The Amish are essentially born and raised to be ignorant. I don't mean that pejoratively, that's just the fact of the matter. They aren't necessarily dumb, but they are stunningly ignorant. They know money, hunting, whoopie pies, and each other's business. The curious need not apply.
