Those are the marching orders from George W Bush. Now I hear he wants another $108 billion for Iraq? Additional! Above and beyond what he has already asked for? My question is: Who does he plan on bribing this time?
The reason the "surge" is working in Anbar is not because those extra troops are out there patrolling the streets. They are not. It is because we have given bribes in the billions of dollars to the sheiks in order for them to maintain order. General Petraeus suggested yesterday this strategy was better than losing all our equipment and lives. Well, maybe so, but is that the best solution these assholes can come up with?
The only reason General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are in front of the Senate and House is as a front for Bush to ask for more money. Convince them that we must stay and I will ask for another $108 billion dollars to shovel out to the "Sons of Iraq" and the al Sadr people. We need to put them all to work. I say, Screw the Sons of Iraq! We are in a damn recession here! We need the money!
I would suggest the House and Senate ask for an itemization of every penny spent in Iraq forthwith. If you can't justify it, you don't get it. And forget about the $108 billion at this time. We can't afford it.
