Am I seeing this correctly? |

In the "good old" days, when there was a major catastrophe, people and nations responded with various types of aid. Food, rebuilding infrastructures, assisting with providing clean drinking water, medical assistance.........
Now, what happens when there is starvation to the point in many countries around the world to the degree that riots are breaking out? The governments seem to either outright eliminate the people who are creating the "problems", or tell their people to basically cut it out because things are bad all over. How many parts of the world are now experiencing near starvation due to the policies of their governments and the corporations they are controlled by?
What happened to nations with banding together to help those without?
Was I dreaming in the past when I thought this was happening? Yes, I know, many times problems weren't solved, but problems were at least lessened. Now, it seems the world sees a crisis and just sits back to see how bad it gets.
Why?

1. Just think: for some people these will be the good old days. |

We live in the era of the Republican motto: "You're On Your Own. No taxes for spending unless it immediately benefits you. Anybody who needs help--tough luck, unless it is you.
