Yesterday, I was driving around listening to my XM radio, which I usually keep on Air America, but during a commercial break had switched over to Mark Levin on American Right. Often enough I am angered by the vile spew that is his opinion, but yesterday I was utterly shocked. While ranting about how useless democrats are,(a common theme on his show), in respect to the Gen. Petraeus hearing, he used words like barbarians to describe the Iraqi people. As if this lack of respect for human life wasn't bad enough, he also promoted measuring our success in Iraq by how many Iraqi's were killed in the last month. Not the level of relative peace we had achieved, but by the number of lives we have taken. :puke: Worse still, people were calling in and agreeing with him, it was enough for me to shout at my radio.
He then went on to lecture that America has no business setting a time frame for withdrawal. His reasoning, there was no set time for the Civil War to end, or the Revolutionary War, so there should be no time for this war. Ummm, Mark, those were OUR wars, fought for the freedom we love today, Iraq is now an occupation of a foreign country, don't you remember we just celebrated the 5 year anniversary of major combat operations being over? So yes, there should be a time frame to turn power back to the native people.

Geeesh, this is one of the many reasons why we need to get back the WH in the fall.

But what you described is really sick. It would be one thing for a real enemy, but damn, the Iraqis as a people haven't done anything to us. And I thought at first we were there to save them from Saddam and liberate them to live in a Democracy?

sporting event, cheering on their team merely to oppose the other team or see their team win. They don't care about the issues or how they are affected, always voting against their own interest. They aren't bush's base, oil barons and military industrialists, and never will be invited to that table.

5. They believe they have a claim over other groups in society. That is...

they want to regulate your behavior in the context of social views as well as in the context of national security. They are like Big Brother in several respects. They accuse Democrats of Big Brother whenever they see Dems pushing for universal health care or social programs to fight poverty. They should probably look in the mirror before tossing stones through others.

This particular radio personality is, in my judgment, guilty of mental laziness. Whenever you have a problem with a group of people, simply bomb the fuck out of them. If a group of people are hard to understand, then they're obviously a bunch of barbarian garbage.

That is the purpose of talk radio (let's face it the RW pretty much created and owns that medium) it is designed to affect white males in their car pissed off at traffic (the guy in front of him) who hates his job/wife/life and is convinced by the voices coming from the dashboard that none of it is his fault, it is the liberals and the minorities (women too), that they are all just trying to guilt him into compliance, that the media is against him, and that THIS is his only release.
