tornados around us, and the Fox4 television crew in the neighborhood said there was cyclonic action here.

Only minor damage for me. Got to get some redimix.

Other damage near me. 160,000 without power around DFW, mine didn't even flicker.

1. My son's little girl lives in Arkoma, OK, just across the river from Ft. Smith, AR. He went down
and picked her up last night for his weekly overnight visitation. He got a call from her mother this morning and her house has a partial roof collapse and all the windows were broken by the hail. She asked if we could keep the kid up here over the weekend, so I'll be taking off tomorrow to babysit.

3. Thanks for all the Photos
Glad everyone is safe and you had minor damage. I love that Texan sign in the first one.
My son was born in Texas so I know those spring storms.

6. Wow.. I didn't know all this was going on while I slept.
We had rain, but nothing like that. We're in east Dallas.

7. Glad you are ok! I've lived thru a couple of TX tornadoes myself
including the deadly May '97 Williamson county (Jarrell) one.

After my first one (San Antonio), my neighborhood looked a lot like your does, but with a couple of completely flattened homes and lots of stuff stuck in trees.

I remember the ferocity of the storms in the DFW area when I lived there, it is so flat that Mother Nature can really unwind and unleash.

Glad to hear you are okay w/minor damage.

8. Jeez, what a mess! Glad it wasn't any worse for you!
Here in NM, it was just a long, soaking downpour, something we desperately needed. My skylight leaked, as usual, but big woop.

It's amazing you didn't lose power.

9. goof thing
Good thing that you're ok. I live in North Dallas and it was crazy last night. Weather alarms were going crazy. Rain came down in sheets. Wind pushed trees and threw things across the highway. Man, I didn't get any sleep at all.

10. And I slept right through it
Amazing.

I know some of our Texas haters here are probably disappointed that north Texas is still around, but we don't go easily.

12. Cleburne here...
I don't have any pics but damage here is similar to those you posted. Was watching storm coverage and radar was indicating tornadic rotation headed right for us and then -ZAP!- lost cable and internet service. That was especially scary because I could no longer follow the storm's progress and the last thing I saw was the rotation marker bearing down on us.

So, I went to my apartment terrace which faces the direction the storm was approaching from to try to spot any funnels that might be backlit by the lightning but then it began to rain. I came back inside to see if the cable was back on and it wasn't. Then I began to panic and looked around trying to decide where to take cover. We live on the second floor and no placed seemed safe enough. In just that minute or so all hell broke loose outside.

Just before the cable went out, the weather guy was telling Cleburne to take cover. I decided it would be best to take that advice so, as I started toward the bedroom to wake the wife, I had taken about two steps and suddenly the entire building shook just as the emergency sirens (one of which is only about 200 yards from us) began to wail and I made it the rest of the way to the bedroom without touching the floor.

Just as I shouted at her to get up, she heard the siren and bolted out the bed. Our matress is too heavy and bulky to deal with so she and I grabbed several sofa cushions and our chihuahua and we into the small walk-in closet in our bedroom. My heart was about to leap out of my chest at this point as we listened to the roar of the storm. The building shook again and we could here stuff hitting the building. The sirens continued to wail for 5 to 7 minutes and we waiting until the roaring subsided somewhat before coming out.

The storm was moving at 65 mph when it hit us and the squall line was upon us and then past us inside of 15 minutes. The whole episode scared me so bad that I had to sit down and try to calm my heartbeat as I felt like I was about to fall down. After five minutes or so I was able to get up. The rain had all but stopped by that time and the both of us went outside to check things out. Dozens of window shutters were ripped from the buildings. BBQ grills, ice chests, deck chairs, trash cans, and other stuff people keep on their patios and terraces were scattered everywhere. The pool area was ravaged. Some windows had been blown out of other apartments.

My BIL is a wrecker driver and we called him to find out if he had heard anything from PD dispatch. He hadn't so he called them and they had had reports of a tornado touching down just west of town but so far there's been no official confirmation. Witnesses told PD it was on the ground out in the open one second and the next second it was gone.

All in all, a very scary experience.
