Randi will be on Nova M - bank on it
Before he left on vacation Malloy "hinted" that "who knows, maybe she'll be on Nova M."

It's the perfect place for her.

Nova M management will get her there - you watch.

1. Well, NovaM's managment used to be AirAm's
so she certainly has strong ties there.

2. I think Jones and nova M might be in a bidding war
Listening to Ed Schultz and it looks like he is taking Randi's side. Ed knows Randi would be a plus for the Jones network, despite their differences.

5. It's all business
What we hear on the radio is mostly show. But business has a way of bringing the people we least expect together.

10. This is interesting...
...because Ed and Randi are known to have no love lost for each other. If he's siding with her publicly, it might be a signal that he's fine with her moving to Jones.

If they pick up Randi, along with Schultz and Stephanie Miller, they suddenly become the #1 progressive radio outfit in the country, with AAR a distant second at best.

28. Despite their differences
You mean despite the fact that they hate each other? Lol.

I think Randi would do well on Jones too. People are scrambling to get her to sign contracts with them though, which is hilarious. Jones, Nova M, even Clear Channel (whom, I believe, she has worked for before) would benefit immensely from having her on their team and they all know it.

3. I think you are probably right.
She has contacts there who she used to work with. The business is all about knowing people.

Since they now help call the shots at Nova the Magic 8-Ball would say "chances look good." :)

He's a longtime Rhodes confidant, and is currently Nova M's CEO.

9. Whether she goes to Nova M or not...
...I think Rachel is out the door for MSNBC in the near future. Thom Hartmann owns his own show and syndicates it to AAR, so he could pull it and move to any other network he wanted. That leaves Sam...and I doubt he's all that enamored with AAR, considering how they shunted him off to the sidelines after the Majority Report.

I've seen him on some shows but not as much as Rachel.

8. I don't think Nova M has anywhere near the resources...
...needed to get Randi.

I mean, they've had some success with Mike Malloy, but they're still an ultra-small outfit dependent on $10/month "subscribers" to pay their bills. That doesn't seem like anywhere near the financial footing necessary to become a big-time syndicator...and I would argue that even trying to do so right now might turn out to be a fatal move for them even on their current level.

If Randi goes to Nova M, I bet it will be as "charity work," working without salary for a year or so to see if they can build up the business with her. But does she have the resources to do that? We know Al Franken fronted AAR for a couple of years, but he was already wealthy from his books and SNL work. I don't think Randi's on that financial level.

12. Nova M from what I have heard, so take it with a huge grain of salt
is actually turning a profit these days.

While AAR is being run on shoe strings, even today

15. Yes, but "turning a profit"...
...based on $10/month "subscriptions" (which are likely to dry up -- or at least not increase -- with the downturn in the economy) and only one "name" host is nowhere near the scale you would need to pay the salary of someone as well-known as Randi.

Like I said, if she has the resources and desire to donate her services to Nova M for a year or two, and see if they can use her to build up the business, that might be what happens. But I can't see them signing her to a contract at anything close to her expected salary -- it would bankrupt the whole organization.

13. I really Hate Nova Radio's
using AP radio news. It is more right wing than Fox.

But will welcome Randi to NOVA. I hear CBS radio news, ABC radio news and
even Fox radio news, and AP radio news is the worst, for being a mouth piece
for this administration than any other the other news feeds.

16. Not a fucking chance! Nova M can no way afford her huge contact,....
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 01:23 PM by LaPera
Nova M already cuts an hour out of her show each day, she's not that inviting (with good reason) or they'd offer her whole show....

Randi is not the desirable voice as she once was when there were few proven on air liberal voices around....Randi now is just a common big mouth, only she is always right, an egotistical, pain in the fucking ass!

If ARR cuts her loose, where else an she go but crawling to Nova M and Nova M certainly doesn't need her fucking problems!

I used to really love & enjoy Randi...now, good fucking riddance!!!

Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 01:33 PM by LaPera
it was 2 hours instead of three...big fucking deal...she's become tiresome, repetitious, annoying and she's identically, exactly what she called Hillary & Farraro...what did she call them, come-on you know....yeah, that's it, correct.....that's indeed what Randi is!!

30. I think he does his out of a local radio station
He likely pays them to use their studio and equipment.

Even still, Rhodes could do the show via ISDN from her living room if she wanted. Likely, she'd be able to do it from WJNO in West Palm Beach. Like Green 960, it's owned by Clear Channel, and she has a long history there. I almost expect WJNO to continue running her show, as they aired best-of shows the past week.

31. WJNO announced that Randi will be live
from the WJNO studio in West Palm Beach on Monday :) I think she will continue to broadcast from here no matter who syndicates her. She has always had a separate contract with Clear Channel. That was one of the things she insisted on before moving to NYC for AA.
