Hahahahah! ROFL!!! Students on Rate my Professor: "Torture memo" professor John Yoo

From Rate my Professors dot com on John Yoo of Boalt Hall (U. Cal. Berkeley) School of Law:

http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=581083

1. Should be imprisoned for war crimes: the prime legal enabler of the Bush Administation's thrashing of the US constitution, respect for human dignity, respect for individual privacy, and stance against torture. This man shall, we must all hope, end up in prison.

2. Terrible architect of torture. Should not belong at Berkeley.

3. This class was a TORTURE to take.

<end quote>

So why does the very liberal Berkley Law School keep this "professor of torture" clown on its payroll???

2. Just a guess

The torture memo revelations hadn't become public and he was just a well credentialed young lawyer from the Justice Department.

Once all that came out, the problem was that there is a tradition of not firing people -- even people without tenure -- for their political or intellectual opinions.

But I bet he will not get tenure there. I would bet also when his contract runs out it will not be renewed.

But some behavior crosses a line and merits firing. Advocating torture that results in not just injuries but deaths constitutes that kind of behavior.

this practice. I get even with every english teacher I had. they were the worst professors I ever had.

9. He already has tenure there...
The only way to get rid of him is to publicly shame his bullshit legal "opinions" and have a drop in the number of students signing up for his class.

That might happen given all this publicity.

Condeelezza back??????

Me? I'd be horrified and embarrassed to have her on the teaching staff! What's she going to teach? "Torture--How it Benefits America" or "Waging Unprovoked Wars--How this action Destroys a Robust Economy?"

6. This reply is hilarious!
This class was a real pain. He would torment us with endless theory. We had to wrack our brains every day. He really put the thumb screws to us, and gave us the third degree. And he constantly listened to Iron Maiden...very distracting.
