Talk about taking it to McCain slyly.

Dean feared Romney in general election

Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Thursday that he feared former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney more than the rest of the Republican presidential field.

Dean told reporters at a briefing Thursday that he was more concerned about Romney emerging as the Republican nominee because of his immense personal wealth and because he’s “articulate.”

Romney dropped out of the race after Super Tuesday and endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the presumptive GOP nominee. The former governor has since begun campaigning for McCain and is viewed as a possible vice presidential pick.

3. All the Democrats have to do is mention the problem with the
Mormons in Texas and Romney will not look so hot. Romney can say that he does not believe in having more than one wife but that is one of the basic beliefs of his religion.

6. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that Texasnews story.
I think THAT STORY will put an end to Romney's name being on the list of potential VP's. I understand that the group in TX was part of the fundimentalist Mormons, BUT people will remember those pictures and won't be able to separate them from any other Mormons.

5. I did too. Romney would've been difficult to beat.
1. For whatever reason, people find him attractive, which always helps.
2. He is, as stated, pretty smart and has a pretty strong speaking ability.
3. He's clean. He doesn't drink, smoke, swear and has never done drugs. He's the perfect role model for moral crusaders.
4. He has a moderate background. No matter how far to the right he ran in the primary, he could easily get back to the center. All he would have to do is say "Hey, look, I was elected in liberal Massachusetts," and I think it would work.
5. Outsider. He'd be a governor running against a senator, which automatically makes him the outsider.
6. Family man. His wife is pretty and has a boat load of kids. I think only Obama could compare this regard.

I'm in Utah and know Romney...he's smooth. The guy is slicker than a lot give him credit for and would've been a formable foe. I think he still would've lost, but it would have been closer.
