Important Randi News
For her fans...

Not sure if you care about this at all but here some info on the Rhodes situation...

She's going to be signing a deal with Nova M Radio in the next few hours for about the same money Air America was paying her. She will broadcast Monday afternoon on all Clear Channel affiliates and several other stations. The folks at Air America don't miss her one bit, in fact she's widely hated among everyone who has actually met her. She has moved from New York City to West Palm Beach, FL and she will broadcast from the WJNO studios.

If you have any need to use that or pass it along, go right ahead. Please withhold my name and info. Fishbowl LA

3. Was just listening to hear what Sam Seder said about this
And he had Lauren read the Air America statement. I was wondering if he'd catch hell because he talked about the situation and took calls about it. Thanks for the info. I've missed her on Air America.:-(

5. The Air America statement was truly graceless.....
.... If it wasn't for Hartmann and Ring of Fire, I'd truly be done with that network.

11. I agree. They seem to pull the best shows.
My SO Loved "Young Turks" and Mike Malloy, and they're gone. And I miss Al Franken, though it was his choice and he's going to a better place, LOL, and we'll both miss Randi. If Rachel Maddow moves to MSNBC, I'll have little reason to tune in. But I agree with you about Hartmann and I love "Ring of Fire," when I remember to catch it... :-)

28. It was something to the effect of "Randi Rhodes was suspended for inappropriate comments....
.... she resigned. We thank her for her service."

That he forgot to bring the statement to read on the air, but I think it was planned. He obviously wants no part of this.

13. I think he's been pretty up-front about his feelings about Randi's suspension.
He's said that he didn't agree with it and took calls discussing it. And he just put down some antagonist who called in and said that he agreed with the suspension. He also said that Randi will probably be back on the air before he is... I've admired his courage in talking about it, but he really has little to lose, now. :-(

16. Absolutely. But he still had the courage to weigh in on Randi's suspension,
saying on-air that he didn't agree with it. He called her one of his "mentors." He really should be back on full-time, but I do wonder if he shot himself in the foot with his remarks, but he's not one to back off of an issue, which is one of the main reasons that he's a pleasure to listen to...:-)

15. Sam Seder was very supportive of Mike Malloy too...
...when Mike was fired he directed listeners to the petition here on DU. Sam is the real deal and should get Randi's time-slot.

But his defense of both Malloy and Randi can't have endeared him to Mark Green...:-(

19. I agree. She's complained about living in NYC a lot, lately,
said that it's gotten just too expensive for her to live there. This probably factored in her decision.

21. Stick a fork in Air America.
Mark Green just lost a boatload of money for them.

Now let's see if they double down on the stupid and hire Taylor Marsh.

22. Here's the Air America statement, short, but not sweet...
STATEMENT OF CHARLIE KIREKER, CHAIR & MARK GREEN, PRESIDENT, FOR AIR AMERICA MEDIA
By Tim Einenkel
Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company.

We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America. We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

I also know some of the folks at KPHX here who work closely with her. Never heard a bad word about her.

29. I know people who've met her and the opposite is true. She is widely loved by
people that get to know her. There are no folks left at AAR other than Sam, who considers Randi a friend, and Rachel Maddow. I don't know whether or not Randi and Rachel were ever friendly. Everyone I've ever talked to who actually knows Randi, thinks she's great. Kind of funny coming from a story released by Mark Green's AAR, that she was widely disliked, he's actually the one who's been widely disliked, for years in NYC politics. He's a DLC blowhard, who has the personality of toast and bought the station just so he could bloviate on the air on any radio program he could get on, even gave himself a program. Mark Green constantly complains that he lost the mayoral election in NYC to Bloomberg because Rudy endorsed Bloomberg when it became clear to him he couldn't use his mayor of 9/11 rep to have an illegal third term. What Mark Green doesn't say is that he is a jerk, who was clearly only the lesser of two evils whenever he ran for anything in NYC against Republicans, and he would have never beat Bloomberg whether or not Rudy endorsed him or not. He and his brother bought the station so that he could position himself for another run for NYC mayor, and Hillary is supposed to have become President to help him along with that. He doesn't support anyone unless there's something in it for him. I know lots of people in NYC government who can tell you what a tool Mark Green has been for years, so its not surprising he'll be responsible for putting the final nail in AAR coffin.
