What's so Liberal about the Democratic Leadership Council?
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 03:53 PM by devilgrrl
Because from where I'm sitting they're nothing but a bunch of Republicans in Donkey costumes... Cheap donkey costumes.

So DLCer's do tell us what it is that makes your organization so progressive or democratic? Why should anyone who considers themself as "Left-of-Center" even bother listening to anything you have to say?

3. Nothing. Which blows the whole "obama is the same as hillary" argument out of the water
Clinton is a poster child for the DLC where Obama has completely distanced himself from it.

9. Terry McAiluffe proves that they're very liberal at losing national elections for Democrats
But then again, maybe that's the idea!

13. It was more important to him to tank Howard Dean than to win the election.
There's a good strategy!

17. That only proves my point further...
what was that all about?

They're intentionally destroying the left. It's THAT simple.

BTW, I love telling my Republican parents that I don't like Hillary because she's one of them.

18. My republican dad is 'way more liberal than these toadies.
They remind me of those bubbles kids blow from those plastic rings out of soapy liquid. As soon as you touch them, they explode.

While the right wing was buying up the media, the DLC was feeding off of Bill Clinton, just like fleas. They've never made a single positive contribution and they never will. I'm going to start calling them the DLC PULGAS.

LOL

12. The DLC are not Democrats, nor are they leaders.
I guess they could be a council though. A council of corporatist Republican infiltrators who have damn near killed the Democratic party.

16. Nothing.
Everything I have read on their website could have come out of the mouth of my Republican father. The big difference is that they aren't Heritage Foundation, PNAC neo-cons that make up the power brokers of the Republican Party these days. My dad was not one of them.

I certainly wouldn't call them that. They aren't much on leadership either.

But clearly you have a point to make, so go for it.

(For the record, I thought they were wrong back then and I think they're wronger now.)

30. The DLC is all about $MONEY$,
and work to concentrate MONEY and POWER into fewer VERY RICH hands.
In this aspect, they ARE Republicans.

However, the DLC doesn't care who gets an abortion, who buys a gun, who you sleep with, or what church you go to. On the social issues, they can masquerade as Democrats,... just don't fuck with the money.

The DLC altar:
(if you are DLC, you automaticly support)

*less Corporate regulation and accountability

*MORE taxpayer money diverted to BIG BUSINESS (HillaryCare, the MIC)

*MORE outsourcing and "Free Trade"

*Destruction of Organized LABOR and Environmental Protections

*MORE privatization of the Public Commons

In the above Economic aspects, the DLC are Republicans, but if you want to have an abortion, the DLC doesn't care.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone
