Rachel Maddow predicts McCain will win
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? :wtf:

Did anyone else hear her say this today on her radio show?

I heard it, but she went to a break after that and if she said any more about it, I missed it.

Please! Anyone who was listening and knows if she went into further detail on this comment, please post what else was said. Likewise, if you know that she said nothing more, please post that.

I have looked for any other post regarding this, and the only thing I could find was on her own blog:

Hey Rachel-

So good to see you back in Boulder, doing good work!

Truly enjoyed today's Molly Ivans Freedom Fighting Memorial Plenary...

and since I was unable to make it up the line to ask my two quick questions, I thought I would try to sneak them in here:

1) In your way-fun brain....run a simulation of the "current two wars" and the race to a third war... overlaid with an involuntary draft. What would a draft do to the (administration in power's) ability to continue on? As much as it sickens me to posit...Could this help put the people BACK in power?

2) Where the hell is Karl Rove? As you tossed out your prediction that McCain will win, and the schedule of the upcoming conventions... it made me wonder just what he might be up to right about now.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Rachel, that was an AWESOME speech, and I'm very glad you shared it with us.
And I agree with you about the Dems losing in November -- can't wait to hear your reasoning...

1. Didin't hear it, but if she said it, she's right
look at GD-P as to the reason why

It seems we're EXPERTS at getting defeat from the jaws of victory.

And the civil war in the party will cost us the presidency...

And this time they won't even have to steal it much

6. I don't go to GD-P for that very reason.
Very ugly.

8. But that is why many who are fairly astute, and I have dared post this on DU
have stated that this civil war will cost us, dearly

Falls on deaf partisan ears.

Hell, if you speak against one or the other candidate, even on GD, some partisan is sure to call you names... though more pronounced on one side than the other

24. RE; civil war in dem party, I've heard that and read it a lot ,
and I agree with it. I've posted about it also. What threw me for a loop, is that Rachel said it without referencing the battle between Clinton & Obama. She gave nothing else on the subject, just a straight "I predict McCain will win", and went to break.

That's why I was asking if anybody heard the show and heard her say more about it.

I'm very concerned, and don't understand the vehemence, the anger. People are SO emotionally attached to their personal choice, you cannot reason with them. They have blinders on. This does not bode well for the party.

7. I had a meeting with my right wing accountant today.
He is as rethug as you can get. He saw my Obama button and asked me why I liked him. He told me that he wants this war to end and he was open to listening to why I think that it is important to vote for Obama. I live in Ohio and if this guy is asking questions we finally have the attention of the old school rethugs. I hope Rachel is wrong on this one. I realize that she is sorry to lose Hill in the fight but hey it goes like that sometimes. Peace, Kim

She's very level headed. I think she's right. Who would have thought george would be prez the second time around. I know he didn't win but here he is. Why not mccain too? Rachel has a good way of getting us motivated.

14. Unfortunately, McCain has a very good chance.
Obama-sat-in-Rev-Wright's-church-for-20-years is the 2008 version of Kerry-lied-about-his-military-service from 2004.

A stupid argument against a Democratic candidate which right-wingers adore.

Maybe Obama should drop out, but he won't. Or maybe he should have kept his promise to finish out his Senate term.

34. why hillary should drop out.
1) her chances of winning are IMPOSSIBLE
2) her only REAL option is a coup by super delegate which will sunder the party.
3) she lies like it is as natural as breathing
4) she is LOSING very BADLY
5) the idea that obama should drop out is a joke. why would the person winning drop out? so hillary won't cry?
6) hillary has REALLY high negatives and alot of gaffes that can be used against her.
7) SHE LIES SOOOOO MUCH!
8) did i mention she is a serial liar?
9) America does NOT need a BUSH/CLINTON/BUSH/CLINTON aristocratic nepotismal government.
10)She is the STATUS QUO.
11) *cackle*cackle*cackle*cackle*cackle*

16. I agree. Americans are stupid
McCain will win by a small margin.

It's all over. I feel it. Nothing good happens anymore in politics after witnessing the Supreme Court election here in Wisconsin. We are the walking dead. Bankrupt intellectually and economically.

Yes Americans you just can't inflict enough damage on yourself. You are stupid. Dumb. Ignorant. They voted for Bush they voted for Bush again. I see racism, hatred, xenophobia and a diddo nation will self-punish itself until it dies. Look around, we are in a death spiral. Where are there positives?

18. She's in agreement with other political scientists I talk to
Based on socio-demographic projections, McCain will win in November. I haven't had any former colleagues dispute this. Policy voting doesn't matter to most American voters; they vote on symbolic issues, and their votes are readily predictable from their demographic identities, not their policy preferences.

so it will be at least four more years of Republican rule in the presidency, and four more years of war.

36. Then why didn't he win Iowa where he invested so much time?
Why did he not do better in SC and NV, states that were said to be good for him in 2006 when the primary schedule came out?

Also, he was a media favorite in 2004 - and failed to win anything but the Carolinas then. I know that there are people who love him - but in neither election did he come close to becoming the candidate that most Democrats in the country wanted.

28. right
what's the WHOLE story? I'd have to hear the full explanation from Rachel Maddow. This is how rumors get started, when people take a phrase out of context. This is how 'disinformation' works--just distribute those sound bites around til they take hold and the full meaning is lost. If Maddow said it, I doubt she said it categorically--ie.like it's a certainty. I think she qualified it if she said it.

McCain can win IF they steal it, which they will try to do.

I don't buy that the Dems will lose it. This campaign has been a struggle, but it has shown the two remaining candidates for who they truly are and so has been necessary (to a point--it's way overdone). I agree that Edwards was forced out but as for the remaining two, we know a lot more than we did before, particularly about Obama. He has shown that he's got what it takes, through how he has handled the campaign. Nobody who has come up from behind like he has can be dismissed easily. I doubt Rachel Maddow intends to undermine Obama.

We need to know where the truth lies--Email Keith Olbermann (right now!111!!) Ask him to ask Rachel to explain.

40. Rachel's a self-confessed pessimist.
She readily admits she takes on the worst case scenarios. Maybe it's a defense mechanism, who knows? I love Rachel, but she's said a lot of things that caused me to turn my head like the RCA dog. Here's one: she said that Mitt Romney's campaign is over, toast, because of his comment that he saw his dad march with MLK. I thought it was ridiculous. And it was. His campaign ended, eventually, but not even close to that reason.

She gets it wrong too.

Bottom line, it doesn't matter what she or any pundit thinks. They were all also saying it would be a Hillary-Rudi showdown come November. No one actually knows. McCain is only leading in some polls because the average American doesn't know anything about him except that he's a war hero. There's a long way till November to tell them who he really is. Obama has the advantage, no guarantee, but advantage.

On the other hand, if there really are enough Americans stupid enough to elect a pub after these eight years, I'm becoming a survivalist.:scared:
