Should Rep. Patrick McHenry, (R) NC-10, be outed?
I thought about posting this on the GLBT forum, but it's not "just" a GLBT issue.
Note: For background, see:

If you search around, you will see that McHenry is not only closeted, but a
major chickenhawk (in the political sense)

Now the *cough* Hon. Mr. McHenry is quite the piece of work, but I worry over the
ethics of using generalized homophobia to score points even on someone as vile
as him.

This may be a moot point, as one of his fellow GOPers might do just this.

1. If he has voted against gay rights, and if the evidence is there I say YES
Secretly gay people who use positions of power to hurt gays should be outed.

4. I meant outed to the public at large in his district

Evidently, his sexual orientation is not known generally in the 10th NC
district, but is known to the political cognoscenti.

A few carefully worded push polls could do the job.

5. Yes. It's not really a secret here in NC that he "bats left", you know.

EVERYONE in this state knows that he's gay.
It's no secret at all- he's needy and PROMISCUOUS and
there are DOZENS of men who are willing to go "on record"
about their sexual encounters with him.

He's really gone out of his way to make sure that EVERYONE knows it.

It's part of the power trip he's on- he's SMILED at "papparazi"
who've filmed him "picking up" strange men in bars,
smug in the knowledge that no Newspaper Editor in the State
would print the pics.

And none did. Just like none have ever printed any interviews
with the dozens of men who are willing to talk about their
sexual encounters with him.

And yet, while taking shameful joy in regularly rubbing North Carolina's collective nose
in his "Frer du Jour" evening habits, he continually votes for EVERY piece of Craplislation
that attempts to designate gay people as less than human citizens.

Damn right he should be OUTED...
he should be "outed" about five minutes before he's drawn and quartered.

7. what about a British tabloid?
We sure could use some of their prurient photographers now. If the story were put in the context of a larger expose on American Republican hypocrisy, it might get some traction (eg, photos of L. Craig, Vitter, etc.)
