3. I hope they lose ratings over this. I was a closet AI watching and I am done.
And if I figure out the sponsors I'll let them know I'm done with them too.

The producers of this show owe a lot of people an apology.

14. Really? You could tolerate Sanjaya, William Hung and an endless stream
of monotonous pop drivel, but the thing that you couldn't stand; the one thing that could compel you to not only give up the show but BOYCOTT its sponsors...is a Christian song? That even omitted the word Jesus?

Wow.

5. I'm more outraged
that they changed the lyrics during the charity night. And that Johns got the boot. }(

I don't understand why its so offensive... whether you agree with it or not, contemporary Christian music genre has a large market nowadays. The Idols version of this song is in the top 5 on iTunes singles.

If you watch the Idols Gives Back show in full, there's all kinds of references to faith, God, Jesus etc, including other songs. I don't recall it being any different last year. It wasn't a night about appeasing viewers, it was about inspiring the audience to give back. Despite the economy, they raised over $60 million so far.

9. You can bet your ass that if someone wanted to do John Lennon's
"Imagine there's no heaven" line without removing it like that young guy did the whole US of A would have been up in arms.

To some people that line is inspirational. I personally like it since more people have been killed in the name of religion and especially Christianity that any other reason in history that we know of. Religion and violence have gone together for a long time.

As a matter of fact I USED to think that Christianity was a religion of peace. Soooo not true.

"than any other reason in history," yeah pal, not land or power or other ideology. Just the big bad Christians. Do some of you even think about what you're typing?

20. Well, your copy and paste of a wiki table of contents is...impressive
In a negative way, but impressive. And as for your challenge, to name a Crusade that isn't Christian, that is beyond me, but here is a short list of things that have killed millions of people that had nothing to do with Christianity:

The Aztecs, by the 15 century, were killing as many as a quarter million people annually.
The Great Leap Forward claimed perhaps as many as 75 million people.
The Ukrainian Holodomor killed about 4 million.
Stalin was responsible for probably about 20 million deaths, although the number is likely much higher and may be as high as 50-60 million. His apologists argue that the number is perhaps "only" 5 million.
The Armenian Genocide is estimated between a half and 1.5 million victims.
I won't even include the Holocaust because I don't feel like a protracted subthread wherein I have to prove once again that Hitler was not a Christian.

I could go on into wars proper, but the point is this: people ignorant of history and with axes to grind against Christianity constantly spout ridiculously dumb bullshit about it being responsible for more deaths than "anything else." I will never fail to call people on this because it is inexcusable.

A Real American Idol

At a time when people are afraid to speak truth to power. She sings truth to power. Ya just gotta love her.

And I would love to see one of the contestants have the guts to sing it. Although I bet they would not be allowed to.
