Hunger in America
Bill Moyers Journal
t r u t h o u t | Programming Note

Airtime: Friday April 11, 2008, at 9:00 PM (EDT) on PBS (check local listings at http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/about/airdates.html).

As food prices go sky high and millions go hungry in America, why are tax dollars being spent on farmers who don't farm? Bill Moyers Journal teams up with the PBS series "Exposé: America's Investigative Reports" to follow the trail of Washington Post reporters who uncovered more than $15 billion in "wasteful, unnecessary or redundant expenditures" that have flowed from Washington to America's farmers. The broadcast also looks at shortages at America's food banks; and Bill Moyers talks with David Beckmann, president of Bread for the World, about the challenges of combating hunger and the new farm bill being negotiated in Congress.

Tonight, Bill welcomes actor Jason Alexander, counter-terrorism expert Richard Clarke, and journalist Dana Priest. Plus, via satellite, biologist Richard Dawkins and Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA).

1. Sorry. After his misogynist remarks stating that a black man was more
"entitled" to be president than a women because blacks had waited longer, I no longer will watch Bill Maher. That did it for me.I always took his misogyny with a grain of salt till that remark, particularly as it was grounded in ignorance. The suffragettes didn't get the right to vote till well after black males. They actually put aside their own efforts to help get the black vote first. Bill is a complete tool! And no one, woman or black is "entitled to the presidency".

But I do love Moyers. Thanks for posting this!

2. Thanks for letting us know what is on tonight
I love Bill Maher's show most of the time, although I think he can be a little obnoxious on rare occasions. Bill Moyers' show is always good and I always learn something when I watch it. NOW is good too, and I never miss Washington Week. Today's my youngest son's birthday (17th) so I forgot about what is on TV tonight. Thanks for reminding me. :hi:

5. Just a little?
If he wasn't snarky and obnoxious all the time, I wouldn't be watching.
