ALVA (AP) - A judge in Woods County set bail at $75,000 for two men accused of torturing a mentally disabled man by branding him with hot coat hangers and shooting him with air pistols and paintball guns.

Jesse Thomas Wallace, 20, and Marvin Michael Tarver, 22, remained jailed Friday in Alva, said Woods County Assistant District Attorney Brian Mitchell. Both men were charged earlier this week with maiming and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, both felonies.

Court documents show investigators uncovered video recordings of the attacks that showed two men holding down the victim and branding letters into his chest with coat hangers. The video also showed the victim being shot with air pistols and paintball guns while he begged the men to stop.

Authorities recovered more than nine DVDs showing the attacks, but Mitchell said it was unclear what the men planned to do with the recordings.

but think some cases warrant lobotomy and/or sterilization.

I don't want these cowardly predators to be capable of doing it again, inside or outside prison. I certainly don't want them capable of breeding and passing on whatever horrible flaw drives them.

I can't even begin to fathom where such horrible cruelty comes from. And it doesn't seem like it's all that uncommon, even. To deliberately inflict such humiliation and pain on another, especially one weaker, and for NO REASON!?!? Just for the f***ing "fun" of it. Can people like this even be considered humans?

Oklahoma is one of only 17 states nationwide that does not include sexual orientation in its hate crime legislation, according to the Washington, D.C., based Human Rights Campaign. Current Oklahoma hate crime law does not allow for intentional violence against someone because of their race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin or disability.

Hate crime based on disability isn't talked about as much as that based on race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation (which OK did not cover as of last last year), but believe me, it's there. :grr: :banghead:

12. I'm thinking Meth

I mean Alva is still like a mile long and half a mile wide amongst hundreds of thousands acres of flat farm land. Agriculture isn't doing to bad right now (except for diesel costs) and the oil fields are running full blast. These guys have to that handfull of people in every town who are just up to no good and it's usually due to one thing.

Just speculation.

PS how long ago did you go to school in Alva? Early 70s?

I'm afraid they are going to get off though.

I read another news story that said the victim was also taped abusing the suspects. The police chief said that could pose a problem if the case goes to trial.

Apparently they were trying to make a film styled after "Jackass", a tv show where men injure themselves & each other. They were all co-workers & "friends".

These creeps should have picked a friend who wasn't mentally disabled if they want to make Jackasses out of themselves.
