4. I remember prior to the 2000 Selection

I was reading a post in a newsgroup by a woman who, at the time, I was quite sure was emotionally unbalanced. She was totally freaked at the prospect of a Bush presidency. I responded saying that while I thought it unlikely the American electorate would allow such a dolt to become president of the United States, it would nevertheless not be a disaster even if it did happen since checks and balances existed that would prevent him from doing any real harm. Sadly, I now realize that I was the lunatic and that this woman had it right. In short, life since Bush has made me wake up.
