$3.99/gallon for regular unleaded at the Shell station on my corner today... |
|
I live in Goleta, next door to Santa Barbara. This particular gas station usually has its prices about mid-range for our area, so I know that elsewhere in the area the price is already well above $4.00 a gallon.
Just thought you'd all like to know -- it's here, and it's real. I just wish that Bubble Boy could feel our pain.

Don't buy from that Shell station! I think it's about the same here (Houston) for Shell, but fortunately my car (Honda Fit) runs just fine on Costco regular (about $3.18/gallon) at the moment. Good luck!

6. Wal-Mart was selling gasoline here in East TN at $3.17 a gallon |
|
You couldn't get into the station. People were lined up all the way to the nearest intersection, about a half a mile down the road. It has been running about $3.50 everywhere else. I wonder why they can sell it at $3.17, while everyone else is $0.33 higher?

I loved it there except at that time the beaches were covered with tar. A person could not walk on the beach without tracking tar everywhere they went..

23. The big spill was in '69, but there are natural oil seeps all the time. You come out of the surf.... |
|
...kind of speckled with it, and every beach walk means tarry feet. The funny thing is you don't even see the stuff in the sand. You can get it off yourself with baby oil.
There's good surfing here, and no shortage of families on the beach, but the tar is a factor.

15. My oil company waitied until our tank was almost empty and |
|
the prices sky high and then they delivered oil. They just delivered yesterday. The last time they delivered before that was 2/8. 135 gallons at $3.96 a gallon. We're on auto-delivery, but I think we're going to cancel that. We don't need a full tank now that it is spring. Why are the prices higher now that is spring than the prices were all winter? We have plans to get a pellet stove installed over the summer, so hopefully we won't have to deal with this baloney next year.

17. Yeah.. but I at least I'll have the option to buy which ever is |
|
cheaper. At the very least I am supporting local companies by buying pellets, because we certainly have lots of wood around here.

But I had to make a trip to Dallas on Thursday and I paid $3.25/gal in East Texas. Went back to the same gas station yesterday and it was $3.39/gal.
It's going up fast and where is the media and Congress on this? Oh wait...they all have stock in the oil companies and couldn't give a rat's ass that we are being screwed.

I live 20 miles west of Goleta. Indeed gas is over $4.00 at some stations and diesel over $4.40. I bought a $500 motor kit for my mtn bike 4 years ago. 25cc engine gets 250 mpg. Goes 30 miles an hour. Made by Golden Eagle, sold online only. Cost me almost $50 to fill my Ford Ranger. I would use that up with 4 round trips to town. My bike can do 50 round trips on the $50 fill up. Bob

According to a McCain supporter we will stay in Iraq and "stabilize the region so that we could stabilize gas prices and keep them low" http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3152664
