Do you think the DLC's days numbered? |
|
Just asking because I value your opinions.
I'm hoping the answer is 'yes'.
Thanks.

2. If Obama is the nominee, yes |

The pseudo Democrats wont get any top positions in an Obama administration, and without influence their kind withers away.

....Obama will become president. The corporatist and DLC'er will be pleasantly surprised by his governance and us progressives will be disappointed. The end.

They'll have another crack at glory, I expect.
Let's suppose that the economy tanks badly. And further, that President Obama can't fix things quickly (which he almost certainly can't - FDR only stopped things from getting worse, it took almost a decade for things to really start improving).
The Clintons will pop up, yammering about how the bad economy is all Obama's fault, if only The Clintons were in the WH again they could bring back prosperity like we had under Bill, etc. Rather than recognizing that The Clintons sowed the seeds of our crisis, people might believe them to be saviors. Then the DLC may be back with a mandate.
I hope not. But it can happen.

6. I think if Obama wins thier influence will continue to wane. They probably won't close shop, |
|
they get strong corporate funding, but they may end up on TV less.

I'm afraid those entrenched conservatives will cling to their positions until their dying gasp unless the rest of the party has the will to dislodge them.
Nobody in the halls of power seems to be making the connection between Clinton's wretched DLC campaign staff and her poor showing in so many states.

If there's one thing we should have learned from life since the 60's, it's that we can never afford to relax.

They have those cushy jobs in DC in the big new headquarters. It's an easy life. Even though they lose election after election (really win if they fight it) they keep their positions no one demands they leave.
How can we win election after election yet we lose big time? Bush wins whatever the balance in Congress.
