Thinking about January, 2009
With all the fighting going on with the race between Obama and Clinton, I am just doing my best to look past it all and think about the GE and ultimately, when a new president is sworn in.

The new Democratic President (thinking positive here) will be sworn in and then give his/her speeches, have the parties and balls with all the pomp that goes with the office.

But what do you really want to see come out of that office after he/she gets settled in? What do you think are the priorities that really need to get done first?

My own list:

1. Halt any residual escalation of troops to Iraq and firm up a reduction plan that will work.

2. An immediate retraction of all the powers that Bush has gathered, and put those powers back where they belong.

3. Return the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to their original meanings.

4. Revoke all of Bush's signing statements as law.

5. Have Bush, Cheney, and the rest of those rat turds arrested and sent to the Hague for their war crimes. (never happen, but I can dream)

There are so many other issues that they will have to attend to, but I believe that he/she should get us back on the moral track that we once expected for our leaders. Once our system of government is back to the way it was attended, we can pursue the other major problems that are affecting the nation.
