even more clear and relevant today than just a year ago. hubby and i were talking how they make a deal out of 1984 but comparatively, this one is so much more on. was disappointed in 1984. but can see way back then how it would be an eye opener for people. today, not so much.
i wish more would actually watch v for vendetta

That is exactly what my wife and I did last night.
I have to agree ... I think I found the message of the movie more powerful than the first time I watched it.
Actually, in some ways I think we are further down the fascist road than when the movie came out ... there is such acceptance of power of the central government to do whatever it wants. It is so bad than even when the word "bitter" is used to describe how so many of us feel in our helplessness to fight back, that becomes just another way to introduce wedge issues to keep us divided and alienated from one another.

That is one dvd I had to own. We went around last year in V masks with the kiddos for Halloween, handing out dvds with educational/Iraq/evil government movies on it. The movie tends to inspire the youth which is always good.
I agree with you on 1984, it was so poorly done, an injustice to the novel. I wish someone like Richard Linklater would remake it.
Have you seen Brave New World? That was really well done.

Should be required viewing. Yet, I wonder: Those who most need to see it...would they understand the message? In any case, a great, great movie.
Remember, remember.....
