Church Plant - has anybody else been getting calls from them?
It has been showing up on my caller ID lately, a friend of mine has been getting calls too. So I decided to google it.

There is a greater need for more churches now than ever before. The Church Planting Group wants church planters, sponsoring church leaders, and those who work with them to be equipped, trained, and resourced with the latest tools so they can experience success in every new plant. The Church Planting Village is for anyone dedicated to changing the world through church planting.

Views on church planting
Widely divergent views exist within evangelicalism regarding the subject of "church planting" and how to go about it. Some people advocate a very simple, uncluttered, unstructured approach to planting a new church, beginning with a few families and meeting in homes. Others pursue a "high-yield" or "high impact" strategy, requiring months of preparation before a formal launch designed to attract hundreds of people to the first worship service.

---------------------------------

One of the many times I am really glad I have caller ID. They really are trying to turn us into a "christian nation". Any thoughts about this?

1. Well, next time they call, you could
tell them you're interested in their Satanic church planting package. Hell, pick any religion other than a Christian sect. Make them believe you are serious and sincerely want one. And, when they tell you they don't have one, start harassing them about being discriminatory and how un American that attitude is. And, no, I haven't gotten any calls from them yet. If I do, I can assure you I plan on asking about their non-Christian church planting packages. Wonder how long it would take them to get me off their list....

2. you were getting a call from a website ABOUT planting churches
or from a new church plant? I am confused. I would not think a church planting organization would bother to call you unless you were somehow placed on their calling list...as a potential church planter...

11. All I know is I got a call, and the caller ID came up Church Plant
And a friend of mine was getting calls from the same caller ID. The are code of the number that came up was a North Carolina number. I don't know why I am on the list because I am certainly not a potential church planter. That is one reason I am asking if anybody else is getting any of these calls, I had never heard of this before so I googled it to find out what it was when it came up on my caller ID.

4. Damn I wish loonies like this would call here
I'd tell them that I'd like to plant a church up a variety of their orifices. They'd hang up on me.

9. And you think this would hurt or bother them in the least?

12. You have the right to believe anything you want
and so do I. From my perspective all religion is evil.

14. I stated nothing about your belief system..
I just find it amusing that you somehow think a snarky comment will 'stick it to them'

5. Haven't received a call from them here, but
there is already a church on every corner. I will make a point to remember some of the replies here if they do call.

6. You have inspired me. If they call again, perhaps I'll talk to them about
setting up a muslim madrassa. I only wish I could be there to watch their heads explode.

8. Why would people in the private sphere
trying to plant churches be so offensive?

10. The phrase "changing the world through church planting" bothers me
First, I don't like cold calls at home, thats why I have caller ID. Second, I don't like what the fundie churches have become, especially in the last 8 years. Third, I don't think a goal of church planting should be "changing the world", in what ways are they planning on changing the world? IMHO, religious extremism in any religion is not a good thing.

15. It bothers you because your being overly sensitive
People have benefit concerts to 'change the world through music'. Changing the world is a common human desire.

I can understand the not wanting a call at home but the mature way to handel it is the same way you handle all solicitors. Pick up the phone and politely cut them off saying 'please take me off whatever list you got me from'. Its really nice when in a diverse society someone can believe differently without blinding people so badly with rage that at least a polite 'no thank you' is impossible..

Really do you attend a fundy church? how do you know what *al* funy churches have become? My church which many here would call 'fundy' has not changed and on top of that they have never and will never endorse a candidate or party.

16. I'm glad that your fundy church would not endorse a candidate or party
Unfortunately, too many of them do. And that includes the catholic church who in the last election said that if they voted for Kerry they couldn't receive communion, or something to that effect.

I am christian, not born again, I was born that way the first time. I don't wear it on my sleeve, I believe in my own little way. Unfortunately, people like Ted Haggard and so many of the mega church leaders have turned out to be such big hypocrites about everything, it is hard not to be cynical about them.
