YouTube really pisses me off.
 ALERT!!! ALERT!!! ALERT!!!

After reading this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3153921

I started thinking, yet again, about the disgusting cat videos which I reported here over a month ago, where some guy is inflicting mental and possibly physical abuse on a cute little white cat.

I posted about it in both GD and the Pets forums on the 24th of February. Here is the Pets group thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=243x33113

As you can see, a number of people responded in both this thread and the GD one and I had tons of help getting the videos flagged for animal abuse. Furthermore, a couple of wonderful cat lovers here PM'ed me and said that they were going to contact the ASPCA, PETA and other authorities to try and get the videos yanked. Further still, I made every attempt I could to contact YouTube, including posting a number I found after a long net search. Naturally, calling that number yielded nothing more than a message saying "this mailbox is full".

As of now, these videos are still up.

It amazes me to no end that YouTube's staff can locate and almost instantly pull any videos which might be a threat to some fucknut corporation's "intellectual property", but videos which glorify animal abuse and mass murder are just peachy keen.

End

2. There's no real money to be made preventing animal abuse or mass murder
Giving rimjobs to any corporation that wants one -- now there's some profit!

4. You tube has some major problems.
I've posted the creepy columbine worshippers before http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2235246 And it seems since then, nothing has changed. I clicked on those links and about 70 percent of them are still up. Youtube is becoming a very scary place.

When I played them, my cat went NUTS. I am NOT clicking on any of your links and playing them again. But thanks for keeping us posted.

6. Isn't it more important to get the people tracked down and prosecuted
than to get the videos taken down? There are laws again animal abuse and people ARE prosecuted.

7. My partner loves to watch the funny cat videos on there...
some of the silly things kitties do are really cute and funny.

I would think that if he saw something he found to be unacceptable or troubling, plus being a cop, he would flag the video. I have done this before as well when I come across such things.

It is a good idea to pass the link to those troubling videos on the ASPCA, HSUS and PETA, they are sure to have better ways of getting such videos pulled.

8. Thanks for the recs everyone.
Yes, I'd love to see the people posting the videos do some time for it, but that's not enough in the case of the cat videos. You have to prove that the poster of the videos actually tormented the cat as well, I'd think. :(

10. YouTube only responds to lawsuit threats
Money talks.

Perhaps they should have a policy that removes any video that shows lawbreaking activities. Cruelty to animals would certainly be that. Then again, that kind of policy would open up a whole other can of worms...
