"Hi all,
I am living on the South Africa and Zimbabwe border right now, things are crazy due to the situation in Zimbabwe. I am currently sitting in an internet cafe at the border town of Messina.
3500 people are crossing the border daily. It is a massive problem and police and military are patrolling it hard out and returning desperate people back to Zimbabwe.
A quarter of the population (3 million people) have fled to escape hyper-inflation of more than 100,000 per cent, chronic shortages of food and fuel and 80 per cent unemployment.
South Africa's president, Thabo Mbeki, could make a critical difference by pressing his friend and neighbour Robert Mugabe, but a global outcry is needed to persuade him to do so. The more people sign the petition, the more powerful the international call will be--so please check out this link:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/democracy_for_zimbabwe/97.php Just wanting to share this with ya, but if anyone has any ideas of what I can do in this situation and being here, I'd be keen on hearing, apart from an execution mission to Zim. My eyes are like golf balls as they are opening to this."
