Message from Zimbabwe

well, South AFrica actually. I was sent t his e-mail,which I am posting in its entirety. Thought people might be interested.

"Hi all,

I am living on the South Africa and Zimbabwe border right now, things are crazy due to the situation in Zimbabwe. I am currently sitting in an internet cafe at the border town of Messina.

3500 people are crossing the border daily. It is a massive problem and police and military are patrolling it hard out and returning desperate people back to Zimbabwe.

A quarter of the population (3 million people) have fled to escape hyper-inflation of more than 100,000 per cent, chronic shortages of food and fuel and 80 per cent unemployment.

South Africa's president, Thabo Mbeki, could make a critical difference by pressing his friend and neighbour Robert Mugabe, but a global outcry is needed to persuade him to do so. The more people sign the petition, the more powerful the international call will be--so please check out this link:

1. What does "Post Code" mean?

Sorry, I am not aware of the use of this term. I am reluctant to put my address there if that is what it means...o.t.h. if all they want is a zip code, I could add my name to the petition. My concern is more over spam than anything else...I can handle it online but I really HATE getting ad crap in my mailbox.

5. To go from a food exporter

to a food importer due to the incompetence of Mugabe is a disgrace. That alone should be enough for Mugabe to be turfed out of office. And now that he desperately, and probably illegally clings to power, should be more than enough for his neighbors to persuade him to leave "gracefully."
