Ok, so I get to work, and I hear "wish Bush could run again"
This person at work knows my beliefs, and was probably trying to get me started, but I refrained from saying anything. I still don't know if this person, however, is really serious. There are still many in my community proudly keeping their "W" stickers on their windshields, and our local rag is so conservative it isn't even funny. Even nationally, a ballplayer from Atlanta proclaimed how he had voted for Bush twice, and wished he would run again. I know, :wtf: :banghead:

Anyway, I want to ask DUers this question. Do you think Bush would run for a third term if he could? Or, are there still some out there who thinks the man could try to suspend elections? Lastly, are there those like me who think it has been "Mission Accomplished" for the Boy King and thinks he's excited to be leaving Washington and all that "herd werk"? I really can't see him wanting to stay in DC for another four years if he could. The man is wayyyyy too lazy, and it will be much easier for him to live in Dallas and go to Ranger games and make lots of money while doing absolutely nothing.

So, what is the consensus on DU?

1. I think the dim one cannot wait to get the hell out of DC. He's done his
damage, the military is suspending action on the illegal occupation until he leaves, I bet he can't scurry out fast enough.

2. He's looking pretty tired.
Having the world hate you must be "hard work", and it shows. I don't think he'd run again. His damage is done. Plus, I don't think Cheney could pull another 4 years. Rove is on the shelf. A puppet without a master is just a clump of fabric with a dumb look on its face.

4. No. He takes his ball and goes home when the game doesn't go as he wants.
BUT, on the other hand, I can see him declaring martial law. He'd love that!

5. He doesn't need to run, he just has to declare a "national emergency"
and it's a done deal. He could turn the reigns over to Darth Vadar and go home to Texas.

13. First of all, I'm sorry you are surround by so many stupid and
mentally ill people. No, he wouldn't run again, he was the one who didn't want to be in politics, anyway. What a dirty no good bastard he is. If there is a hell, I hope he burns there very slowly.

16. I think the 60' mahogany bar stocked with Jim Beam in his North Dallas estate...
...is calling his name.

No more Crawford, no more press conferences, no more being shunned when meeting with foreign leaders, no more being dressed in expensive suits and shoes with lifts, no more pooping in a bag when traveling, no more having to listen to an ear piece before saying anything.

Junior has fucked up everything he needed to fuck up. His work is done here, apart from a few finishing touches (Iran?).

18. Oh, shit, you said the key word. "Iran."
That is his last unfinished business, isn't it? At least for the Neo-cons and their agent of evil, Darth Cheney.

19. Iran will be the gift that keeps on giving long after Bush, Inc. is gone.
Dick and Junior will be well out of harm's way by the time things hit the fan.

It's as if they set a timer for sometime in 2009 for everything to just collapse... after they're gone.

20. It would certainly be interesting if Bush was able to run again
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 10:04 AM by Anarcho-Socialist
I imagine a Democratic landslide in the Electoral College had he been able to run again (and be re-nominated).

Although I rather suspect that if there were no term limits, the Republicans wouldn't have renominated him. There's a bit of a palaeocon counter-revolution going on in the Republican Party at the moment.

Palaeoconservatism is no better than Neoconservatism (no matter what some DUers mistakenly believe). They're not that interested in curbing the neocons' foreign policy excesses, and their concerns over civil liberties are more of a red herring (palaeocons have an even nastier misogynist/homophobic/racist/bigoted agenda) it's more that that the palaeocons believe that the neocons are "too liberal."

and run.
