Could the repukes pick another candidate if McCain has "health issuesl"? |
|
I was wondering if this summer or early Fall if the repukes could decide that they wanted another candidate to replace McCain, let's say for "health issues".
What if we pick our nominee soon and they begin to poll better than McCain by like an 75-25% range, could the repukes decide that they want to try another candidate and have McCain withdraw due to health issues?
Would the ticket by default go to the VP nom of McCain? If so, should we be worried about whom he will pick?- maybe someone who wasnt open to debate during the primaries but someone who they think would do better against our nominee (whomever that may be)?
Is my tinfoil hat on WAY too tight?

1. Probably not, but I think they would conceal it to the best of their ability |
|
Once the election is over, no matter what the outcome, THEN they would reveal it, but I don't think they would willingly reveal that McCain was running while having serious health issues. They would have no choice if McCain suddenly collapsed during a campaign appearance, but barring that, they'd continue in the Bush tradition of "tell the public nothing, what business is of theirs?"

3. Ignore the voters and change the rules after the fact? |
|
Sure they could - they're Republicans!

4. I had a horrible thought along these lines the other day... |
|
...I thought, what if McCain were to suddenly experience seriously failing health say a week or two before the election? Might be a "good reason" to put off the elections at that time...
aarrgh, here's hoping that was just a bad dream!
