|
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 02:13 PM by Kittycat
I'll stick with my non-AAR shows for now, and always during RRs time slot. It's not so much about me agreeing/disagreeing with what she said - it's about their reaction and indefinite suspension. The Sedar diss also pisses me off.

Richard's in a tricky position, through no fault of his own, but I agree with others that to not even let Sam know that his name wasn't even in contention? That's foul, and typical of what AAR has become.

you've got to remember she pissed off a whole bunch of people and therefore will lose a percentage of her audience. In Denver 760AM hangs in there at #26 in the market of 32 stations. (KOA - where Limpball is, sadly KOA is at #4. I check in on Denver ratings still, since I worked in radio for 8 years and 12 years as a media buyer. It will take 3 Arbitron books and some trending books to determine just how much listener ship she lost.
Time will tell - you never know, AAR could get someone who kicks ass or is a big name and they would knock Randi Rhodes off 760 in a heartbeat if her ratings suffer too much from her so-called comedic debut. It's a brutal business and she's no cash cow, not like the retard on KOA.
But my guess is Sam Seder will take over her AAR time slot, maybe not! But alas, there's no room for Sam on most affiliate stations who decided to keep Randi, not yet anyway.

36. Sam Sedar was the logical replacement for Randi Rhodes... |
|
but Air America passed him up in favor of Richard whatshisname and a bunch of other guys.
In other words, as much as we listeners love Sam Sedar, the PHBs at Air America don't. Probably for the same reason they didn't care for Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy.
Maybe sooner or later, Nova-M will rescue Sam Sedar.

while Sammy at refresher course at a broadcasting school in RI - this Richard Belzer thing is temporary.
AAR staff seemed pretty happy to see her go - sometimes working with such a difficult person is just not worth it.

a lot last week. Why would he lie? His background isn't radio originally, he's a writer, film director, comedian, actor. And you know what I just got - 3 e-mails from The Sam Seder Show asking to sign a petition to get Randi's time slot.
Sam has a family - kids, he's got to feed. Getting Randi's old time-slot would be a coup that he wouldn't turn down.
------------------------------------------------------------ Will you help me get a daily show? ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Folks, I just wanted to give you an update on the recent tumult at Air America. As you may have heard Randi Rhodes was suspended by Air America management <1> for inappropriate language she used during a stand up comedy routine she performed at an affiliate function in San Francisco. I wouldn't have done the bit she did, but I said on air that I didn't think that based on the context of her comments, that the suspension was appropriate. Of course, management has the right to create and execute any policy they want. After a week, Randi decided to quit Air America <2> and move over to NovaM <3>. Randi was Air America's highest rated show by far and I think in many respects she was underappreciated by some of Air America's management. Is she temperamental, free spoken, a goddess? Yes, of course. That's what has made her a success in talk radio. Are those traits uncommon in the entertainment industry? All I know is that I have directed Gary Busey <4> and Andy Dick <5> -- Randi Rhodes is not a problem child! That said, Randi is gone, the 3-6pm slot is open and my Seder On Sunday contract is drawing to its end. I expect most affiliates will pickup Randi but 3-6 pm is a good time slot and some affiliates will be looking for a change. I've told Air America management I am interested (I suspect they already knew). Will you support me getting back on the air five days a week? Robert Greenwald, creator of OutFoxed and proprietor of BraveNewFilms has set up a petition, will it make a difference if Air America knows that folks want me on the air? I don't know, but it might! Sign the petition here <6>! Want to do more? Send pcollins@airamerica.com <7> an email and let him know you'd like me on air 5 days a week! In the meantime, I'll update you as to what happens and what my plans are going forward and check out SamSederShow.com <8> and don't forget when Marc Maron returns in a week from Australia we resume Seder V. Maron .. see past episodes here <9>. Thanks Sam

If they do replace him I won't listen. I find him boring. I love talk radio and listen to many shows including Randi, Hartmann, Schultz, Stef Miller, Lionel...even John Elliot. Not a fan of Seder and I'd be just fine with Richard Belzer.

What a nice person you are. Usually when I say something someone disagrees with I am a wing-nut, Obamanationmaniac, nuts, or a freeper in disguise.
I think Sam is probably a heck of a nice guy and has an adorable family. I have liked him on TV appearances. But as a talk host 3 hours per day a little goes a long way.

selections up -- the Jon Stewart call which made little sense -- and some idiot calling to insult liberals --- WTF is that???
So... if Belzer said anything interesting today on any subject, I didn't get to hear it ...
Sam Seder is OK . .. he can do the job re news and he has information --- but he's no Randi and he's no Hartmann . . . but a nice guy --

45. I am thankful to Randi Rhodes for putting AAR on the map, however, |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 08:51 PM by irkthesmirk
I stopped listening to her months before she left even though I listened to AAR from the time I got home until I went to bed. She had gotten to the point where she reminded me of Judge Judy, using her position to bully other people and shout them down when she didn't agree with what they were saying. I think Sam Seder is much more effective in the way that he debates with his callers and shows them the error of their thought processes. I like Belzer and I think he was pretty good today but I wuld be more comfortable with someone like Sam in that time slot.
