Laura Bush: We're moving back to Dallas

By ERIC AASEN and ERIC AASEN / The Dallas Morning News
Dallas County may be turning Democratic, but it's about to gain two prominent Republican residents: The Bushes are moving back to town.
First lady Laura Bush confirmed Thursday that she and her husband will return to the area when they leave the White House in January.
"I guess I can announce it in front of the press," Mrs. Bush said at a National Park Foundation event at Williams Preparatory School in Dallas. "President Bush and I will be moving back to Dallas, which is where we lived" before Mr. Bush was elected governor in 1994, she said.
"After 14 years away, we're excited about having this chance to live here again," the first lady said.
It's long been thought likely that the Bushes would come back to the area after his presidency, but Thursday's statement was the most definitive yet that the couple would live in Dallas, where Mr. Bush's presidential library will be built at Southern Methodist University. White House communications director Kevin Sullivan said the couple will split their time between Dallas and their ranch in Crawford.

Uh-huh. Since anyone close to W is saying it you know it is a lie. Crawford served its purpose …seeya!

21. Thank you! All of North Texas needs it.
It's bad enough with Crawford so close by. (Actually, it has made it convenient to attend protests.)

3. I knew they wouldn't retire to the pig farm. It was only a prop for the fake cowboy.
Maybe he'll keep it though so he can visit when he feels the need to clear some brush.... :eyes:

9. It might be their vacation home
or one of them, at any rate. Or maybe the taxpayers of Texas will buy it from him, giving him a handsome profit, to turn it into a monument of his pResidency.

25. Oooooh, perfect!
He's a little hard on the voters, though. Stupid got appointed in 2000 and was swept into office in 2004 by an election so crooked it would make the third world blush.

Personally, I think the "library" will consist of an underground vault, guarded by Blackwater goons, with a time lock on the door set for 500 years from now.

22. Hey, it would be more worthwhile to make it a monument to the pigs raised there.
Or to the poor brush that has been so maimed over the last few years.

12. Another option
They may turn it into a down-home version of the Reagan Ranch

http://reaganranch.yaf.org/

which is used to train young fascists.

One block from where Cheney used to live in HP.

16. Several years ago
I posted a question here asking farmers and rural folks if this made any sense

Would a millionaire "ranch" ;-) owner hire oh I dunno some high school kids or maybe some cheap day laborers to do chores such as that or maybe rent a bushhog type piece of machinery or something?

They all pretty much agreed that that was the norm not the photo-ops W did. Hasn't done one in a while has he?

17. And no one is more horrified than the wealthy elite who put him in DC.
I have a friend who does work for some of the true blue-blood wealthy folk in Dallas. According to him, they are upset about this. They don't want his low-life self hanging around their neighborhood, inviting himself to their dinners and parties, and basically thinking he was ever more than the hired help to them.

Poor George. Thinks he belongs somewhere, but no one loves him.

With your billionaire cronies and zillion dollar homes. Stop pretending that you and chimp are going to be seen strolling around random Dallas streets.
