Dan Froomkin on media and bu$h* torture program
The mainstream media by and large seem to agree with Bush that the ABC News Report wasn't so startling, and they have given Bush's remarks almost no coverage. There was no mention of Bush's admission in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal or the Los Angeles Times. There was nothing on the major wire services. And nothing on CNN, CBS or NBC.

By contrast, the American Civil Liberties Union and a smattering of newspaper editorial boards around the country are greatly disturbed and are calling for an urgent congressional investigation.

1. Most US Corp Media do not want to cover the Busholini Regime
Torture Program. It is bad for business.

8. as the war in Iraq is an example of that failure
One of the more important things we should be concentrating on is getting the press right again.

6. There is no "mainstream media" but rather a gossipy-type info-tainment.

Matters of vital importance to American democracy are way down the list of coverage issues.

Not that I'm providing new information to those who frequent DU.

7. So the Bush administration authorized torture
That's hardly news, and certainly not important to the average voter, which is the sole, A-number one, first concern for our stalwart bulldogs of the media. I took the liberty of seeing some of the coverage for the last week, so you will all know what's important, because torture most decidedly is NOT torture (got that, you libruls?):

1. Ordering orange juice instead of coffee at breakfast.
2. Bowling badly.
3. Noticing that a whole lot of folks have been fucked over in the last seven years and that some of them might be upset about that.
4. Black people cranky about their treatment over the years.

Now, a little bit of explanation for items 3 and 4: In America, the only people qualified to speak on behalf of the folks left behind by our nation's economic policies are (and this is probably counterintuitive to you libruls, but your minds don't work properly) multi-millionaires. Likewise, the only people who really know what's going on in Black churches are multi-millionaire white men.

It's a goddam shame that overrich white men are so stifled in our national political discourse, and their valuable insights go a-begging. One of these days you libruls are going to find out that your pissy little concerns about decent housing or getting enough to eat are paltry (Paltry!) compared to how tough it is to make $5 million a year to talk on the teevee on subjects you know nothing about.

Just get over it, already. The beleaguered talking heads certainly have. Oh, is it payday again already? Another couple hundred thousand to put somewhere. Where, where?

10. Maybe we should forget about protesting the junta in the WH
and start staging massive protests at the HQs of major media corps.

11. No amount of protest directed at the Busholini Regime will
bring about any accountabilty. The Pres. & VP will shrug & say: "So?"

Most of the US Corp. Media was complicit with the Busholini Regime & still is.

The US Corp. Media should be the target of our rage.
