Because of NCLB, we are having to cut down the number of teachers...One of my friends got a letter |
|
that he will not be asked back to our building.
He is a great teacher, and relates well with the kids. HE also will go out of his way to do anything for anyone.
but...we are losing him and up to 4 more
I hope I am not one of them

We almost lost our principal. We are losing teachers and they are cutting programs in my son's school. We fought to keep our principal (they wanted to cut her position to 1/2 time and have us share her with a neighboring school). We are definitely losing teachers. My friend just got his notice about two weeks ago. I'm worried that I won't be able to find a job when my twins go to kindergarten the '09-10 school year.

2. Same shit at my school... NCLB is nothing but a ruse for military recruitment. |
|
It was never about education, just assuring the recruiters access to kids with no hope for a future.

5. Being activily abetted by the citizens of the states and the School districts |
|
States can tell the Feds to shove NCLB. All they have to do is make up for loss of Federal School Funds. The school systems of the country have become slaves to the Federal government's purse. So instead of sucking it up and paying for education its better to bitch about NCLB and keep you hands out for those free federal dollars that magically come with the acceptance of the Federal mandates.

What politicians, and what voters, are ACTIVELY opposing NCLB? There are a a few, but EVERYONE should be active on this one.

6. Yup, it's definitely about profits. |
|
Google "NCLB" and "profits" and you get pages and pages of evidence.

http://colosus.ncee.org/pdf/pressroom/ACSD_nclbapril1F.pdfthis started out as a non-profit organization, then NCLB made them rich and schools have NO choice when they have to take action because of the non-achievable goals missed.
