Because you are killing me. And my kids.

We don't NEED the internet. We got along just fine without it in my early days.

And there you all sit with your computers and monitors running, sucking up electricity which is run by coal/oil/dams/etc - killing the environment, forcing my daughter (and me) to breathe in the fumes from everything.

All those techs driving to work, all those servers sucking up electricity.

Carrier pigeons and the like could keep us all in touch. Hand written letters could as well.

But YOUR addiction to this technology is blinding you. Your addiction is killing me and many others.

You don't NEED to post on DU. You don't need to read it. But here you are. And every word you type, every reply you make, is hurting the environment. It is adding pollution to the air I breath.

Why can't you be more like the Amish? I did not choose to live in a country where so many used so many resources. You DO have a choice....

Log off now. Shut down your computer. We did well enough before we had them. And your use of them is harming me.

And don't drink damned beer or any alcohol for that matter - those industries are sucking up the water we need and using a ton of electricity (which, as noted, pollutes) - and if none of us drank then we would not have tons of people driving to work to those jobs each day (which adds even more pollution).

Your life is affecting me. before you do anything, please consult me :)

Now I need to run and have a beer and a smoke - while it is still legal to do in my own home.

3. I'm cracking a Bud right now, and lighting up a Parliament...
I was going to go to bed, but I'll delay that for a few minutes in support of your post.

(No sarcasm, because I do get your point. And I'm actually doing what I said I would.)

9. I don't know if they eat them, but they probably spell them without a 'd'
:)

10. It's a law there - that extra 'd' adds to usage on the net
imagine a million or billion people all adding an extra letter to a word. It would lower the life expectancy of many of us due to the pollution caused by an extra letter.

damn, now I feel guilty for misspelling something :)

11. Right it's spelled with a "b."
Squab. That's what Europeans call it when they eat pigeon.

13. Using electricity? That's what we need to get rid of! Do you realize how many candle makers that
electricity put out of work. What were they supposed to do with their lives? Just get retrained and get a job in the electric industry, I don't think so. Those people should not have had to completely changed their lives.

And the tractor, don't even get me started, the biggest destroyer of jobs in American agriculture! Since their invention the landed farmers have used them to eliminate thousands upon thousands of jobs. And they try to call one tractor doing the job of 20 farm hands "progress," the nerve!

Right On! We never needed the internet! We never needed the tractor! We never needed electricity!

14. Yes indeed. You damn young folk....
When I was a kid we walked uphill both ways in a blizzard just to deliver a hand written message to someone.

We weren't killing the environment or...oh wait, we did smoke in bars that allowed it - but we got all that straight eventually and saved you all. And you all saved us as well :)

Finally a world where we all stopped doing things that affected each other.

I feel safer already. We went after people a world away because of fear about how they may harm us, AND we went after people here whom we saw doing the same.

I feel so much safer ;)

15. Well Yes, A Bit More Like The Amish is a Gut Idea
Mostly Amish on my mother's side of the family. As a kid I spent a couple of weeks working each summer at my mother's cousin's farm. We were the city cousins, they were real Amish. I have never been so tired in my life. The Amish work from dawn into the evening during the farming season. They grow organic. This takes a lot of extra work weeding and tending the crops. They sold tomatoes, beans, sweet corn, cucumbers and other food at the farmers markets in the Philadelphia area long before organic food was trendy.

Although I suspect your comments about the Amish were satire, the world would indeed be a better place if everyone was a bit more like the Amish.

PS. The Mennonite Church and its service committee have long been against war and practice nonviolence as a way of life.

PPS. As you become more Amish, please don't eat all the Shoofly Pie. Save some for me. :-}
