McCain wants to cut out the middle man, give big oil even bigger profits
John McCain wants the federal government to free people from paying gasoline taxes this summer and ensure that college students can secure loans this fall, a pair of proposals aimed at stemming pain from the country's troubled economy.

To help people weather the downturn immediately, McCain was calling for Congress to institute a "gas-tax holiday" by suspending the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day. He also renewed his call for the United States to stop adding to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and thus lessen to some extent the worldwide demand for oil.

Combined, he said, the two proposals would reduce gas prices, which would have a trickle-down effect and "help to spread relief across the American economy."

2. The long range effect of suspending the tax would
never even be considered would they? Who doesn't like driving on roads that are like driving on railroad tracks?

4. The little piglets that support Mcshitforbrains are already squealing how great an ideal this is
and how its going to change everything for the better. But then when you can't think past being told what to think it's not hard to fool yourself into supporting anything that sounds good.

5. If people are still buying gas at, for example,
$3.244 a gallon, then that's the price they are willing to pay regardless of the taxes. Therefore, big oil will then run the price back up from a taxless $3.00 a gallon to $3.244 and pocket the difference that would have gone to the government.

That silence you hear from big oil means they're not going to say a word so they don't screw it up.
