Happy Tax Day, y'all!
I've posted my package of hard-earned cash directly to the Pentagon, so they could distribute it directly to Blackwater, Borwn & Root, Halliburton, and the Sunni tribal leaders we are paying not to kill us.

Have a nice day!

& Don't worry be Happy!

1. I was thinking about enclosing a letter to the IRS with mine..
"out of the $1999 in tax money you will be keeping from me, let me express as a citizen where MY money should be spent:

40% to social services in my state of CA, including childcare and medi-CAL services

30% to housing - as in aid for those who have NONE, and aid for those who are in danger of losing theirs

30% to veterans - their continued care after being maimed physically and mentally "for OUR freedoms"

that leaves...hmm, let's see...

0% for WAR and military spending!

If very one of us could dictate the programs and issues WE wanted our tax money spent on, this horrific war would have been over YEARS ago!

thank you - now leave me and my civil liberties alone! "

3. I'm glad you didn't!
Or you'd get yourself a nice IRS audit. Wait until the Reigh-of-Terror is over (a.k.a. Chimp presidency) to express yourself!

10. What sucks, is that I am supposed to get the EIC...but they take it back
because I can't pay my student loans...
well, DUH, if I am below the poverty line enough to get the EIC, i certainly haven't finished my degree and gotten to a place that I can pay back the loans!

I wish they'd think about those little catch-22's

12. That means you are not letting the government hold your money for a year.
If you get a refund, you are having too much taken out.

13. I just sent in $2,200
and to think that my tax bill was $37,000 when Clinton was in office...why? Because I was making a LOT more money then!

Thanks BushCo! :grr:

15. With me, it was because of a change in my filing status.
I should have had my employer withhold more from my check midway through last year, but that was one detail in all my personal churn that got overlooked.

God. I will NEVER forget sitting there in the tax preparer's office, watching the computer calculate my tax, and then being told what I owed. The first thing I said was, "That can't be..." then I was showed HOW it happened, and I had to sit through the rest of the session fighting back tears.

But when you figure in my pittance of a salary...it is bullshit.

9. Did mine yesterday.
I had to pay the IRS $296 and I'm getting a state tax refund of $372. Go figure. For some reason, every year, I have to pay federal tax, but I receive a state tax refund. Well, at least one balances out the other.
