Why do I always get a sinking feeling in my gut when I file my taxes? |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 07:21 PM by Squatch
Every year I get a refund, and every year I expect the friendly, kind, and beautiful public servants we all cannot live without from the IRS (just in case any of them are reading this) to be knocking down my door as soon as I hit the e-file button.
This year, it's worse. Turbo tax was telling me I was getting a $58 federal refund, which is far more than I deserve from my government (once again, just in case). Then, when I e-filed, that was bumped up to $1700!! :scared:

22. Actually not one tax dollar we gave them went anywhere except toward |
|
the interest charges on the national debt. The money building bombs was created by the Fed and the interest for that was thrown on top of the pile.

I mean, there is very little likelihood that you'll get tossed in the slammer for tax evasion. :D
True story: My hairdresser deducted a boob job as a business expense. Yes, she did get audited. But can you blame them?

6. I don't trust Turbo tax. I tried to use them and they |
|
didn't offer any sort of cheat sheet kind of information. I didn't get the feeling that they are up on the latest tax proposals - and keep in mind, this year, Bush offered this stimulus package that includes a tax rebate probably a good three weeks after this year's TurboTax was boxed up and on sale.

I was getting a rebate check from the exceedingly generous government, which absolutely humbles this patriotic citizen. :patriot:

11. Their ads on TV seem to suggest they have learned from |
|
the earlier versions' mistakes. So I am glad that is true of the product and not jsut what the ads are saying.
And congrats on the refund!

8. Maybe because you wonder if you really have to file a tax return at all? |
|
 The possibility of the illegality of it all, some how makes your SOUL uneasy? (something might be wrong here?) I dunno, just musing...... I certainly don't know all the answers, or 'any' answers. But this gave me some food for thought: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1656880303867390173

costs a few hundred, but i'd be afraid i'd make a mistake and set off an audit. i still worry about audits and keep meticulous receipts.

with the government. I don't want them keeping track of what I make, etc. How far back do they audit, by the way?

17. Perhaps because the money now goes to an Evil Empire, not a Free Nation? |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 07:52 PM by tom_paine
That's where MY sinking feeling comes from. From knowing my monies will not go to the expanson of freedom and democracy, but to shut them down.
From knowing my money does not go towards the improvement of the human condition, but the restoration of a pre-1776 state.
To know that Jefferson might have been right when he said the mass of humanity was not born to be the beasts of burden to a few booted and spurred aristocrats, but that the Imperial Subjects of Amerika becoming further enslaved as beasts of burden to our booted and spurred Bushies and the Democratic Enablers is now America's chief domestic policy goal.
To know that America, once the bastion of freedom and it's chief expander, is now the chief enemy of democracy and self-determination, perhaps not in the world (many worse Bushie-type out there) but certainly here at home. And we are no slouches in the global democracy-destruction movement. It is no coincidence that Amerika, Russia and China rae so similar in their governmental mechanics these days.
That's the sinking feeling I feel. Perhaps yours is a simple matter of money. How sad if true.
