2. I live in AZ and the response of conservative lawmakers to Colorado City is weird |
|
On the one hand they know they're supposed to be doing something about it, but that would be like admitting that mixing church and state is a bad thing. OTOH they like to bring up polygamy as a reason to oppose gay marriage.

They were brought up to believe some pretty bizarre stuff. Now that they are getting a look at the outside world, they are frightened, and are clinging to the only thing they know.

The family values crowd I know thinks the kids belong with mommy |
|
even when mommy is a glazed, beaten woman who accepts her and their rape as a natural part of life.
These women and children are going to need some pretty intensive deprogramming before they're allowed to make choices about their own welfare or the welfare of children too young to know what happened to them.
Remember, this is a cult that considered women and children to be property to be disposed of as a patriarch wished. That sort of thing really appeals to the family values crowd.
Slavery always does.

4. I'd venture a guess that they are in total disbelief that their beloved republicons pulled a Clinton |
|
just more proof how evil Clintons influance was on the justice system, those poor christians being persecuted like that, has to be Clinton left overs causing it. Thats it, its Clintons fault, he put those people in their to attack christians just like Ruby Ridge and Waco.

5. So you don't like the way they dress or look |
|
Would you find their message more acceptable if they were wearing something from Macy's?
Who knows if any abuse took place at this particular location? Even the authorities are still gathering evidence, and seem to have lost their key witness!
I was under the impression that at least some at DU regarded the rule of law and the rights guaranteed under the Constitution to be something to strive for, but with this particular case that's not true. Sometimes it's amazing how some here sound so much like those on the other side, you know the side with the initial FR?
I don't defend what they may be accused of, but I do defend their rights under the very same Constitution that DU accuses the Bush administration of pissing on, and that until they have been proven guilty in a court of law, they are innocent.
